Aloha everyone,

So I have a bit of a weird situation but I will try to document as it happens. Long story short I had a C5-C6 disc replacement last July. The surgery failed by that I mean it didn't fix my neck pain and left arm radiculopathy. Got referred to an MEB in October, however the pain was unbearable. I decided to do a revision surgery to an ACDF fusion and cut some of the cervical bone to open the space for the nerve..welp that didn't fix my radiculopathy either... Soo...

MEB initiated by PCM : 3 March 2025
Peblo initial contact : 17 March 2025
MSC initial contact : 17 March 2025
Peblo initial counseling : 18 March 2025
Sent initial claim form to msc : 19 March 2025
First C&P : 4 April 2025
was told that it would be 2 - 6 months for dental exam, completed all 6 other exams already.

Current leaving to visit family in New England this week and called QTC to get an exam in Boston, scored one for this Friday at 0900 to finish my last C&P exam.

Will update as soon as I get word of my narsum and what they say.

For reference, I filed 29 claims and have been active duty Army for 23 years. Previous A 19K M1A1 Abrams crewman, 19D cavalry Scout, Drill instructor and for the past 16 years a Blackhawk Pilot.

My initial neck injury was from Iraq in tank when I was blown up by 4 155mm artillery shells that went off underneath me. No medical available as I didn't get medivac and just dealt with it over the years. I have two buddy statements from other crewmembers that were in the tank when it happened.

Hoping for a good outcome, will update like I said.

Chris

Also wanted to add that my initial MEB referral was denied as I had a second pending surgery, although I tried to fight it, they wanted me to go through the second surgery, heal a bit and see what happens. After 7 epidurals between both surgeries, the pain remains. So the meb was initiated again.

If you have 20 AFS you are golden. Also any ADSO or requirements to stay in for warrant officer or officer are waived. So basically regardless of the outcome if found unfit you will get allof your earned pension and all of your VA compensation assuming lyour VA compensation total % is 50% or higher.

Ya I'm just about to 23 years, I'm expecting 100, well im hoping but I have enough in my claims that I hope it's enough for 100. Thanks man!

You are welcome! So in your case the most important thing is getting 100% VA rating!!! That is the only variable in your situation since you will get all of your earned pension by reaching 20+ AFS.

That's the hope. I finished 6 exams 15 April was the last one.. Finally got my dental this Friday in Boston because in Hawaii was a 6 month or longer wait. Would love to see these DBQ ahead of time for peace of mind. My GME was really nice and said everything I was claiming was clearly service connected based on 2500 pages of medical records. I hope so, as I would probably have thousands more pages if I wasn't told long ago not to go to sick call, suck it up and deal with it. Or do push-ups for missing pt because I had a problem...lol so here's to hoping.

Finished last C&P exam Friday May 23rd for dental. QTC now shows all appointments closed.

Waiting on narsum.

If anyone is interested to see their DBQ before the narsum go and do a FOIA request through the VA for C&P exams, got mine in 3 days.. Because I'm impatient and want to see what they wrote..lol

Your just behind me, the process is going really fast right now so make sure your getting other things in order for a smooth transition.

I'm perfectly ok with it going fast. I'm hoping for 100% and my total claims are 45 different things. I have a cousin who works in ides and he says just based off a few that I'm pretty much at 100%. He can't look at my file specifically but I sent him my documents.. So here's to hoping.

30 may 2025 Narsum review and Legal counsel review.

Proposed from legal review is;

Neck injury tied to a combat injury and expect DOD retirement tax free and also expect 100% P&T VA Disability.

Now we wait and see what the PEB says and the VA. Will update when it comes back.

How long did your FOIA request take?? 3 days? I heard it takes months for the VA to get you your records

2 June 25 email to confirm paperwork went to final MEB doctor for second signature. Will update when sent to PEB.

what are those 2 steps on June 2nd? After I signed the NARSUM/MEB findings it was sent to the PEB the same day no 2nd MEB signature required, or am I reading this wrong?
