This is my 1st post, if it's in the wrong bad. I'm going through the IDES process and after talking with legal counsel they gave me an estimate of my ratings, not sure how accurate it is going to be but time will tell. My question is about severance pay. The estimate is army: 60%-70% and va:100%. I'm coming up on 14 years of active service, am I going to get severance? If so, should I take it? I heard something about va not paying until later if severance is accepted.

The requirement to qualify for medical retirement is 30% or more for your unfitting conditions (the conditions you were referred to IDES for). So if you did actually get 60-70% from the Army, you would be retired and not separated with severance.
