Wow.... I'm seeing and hearing a huge variance in the time it takes for everything to go through. Is this based on Service, injury, location or is it all just random? I was originally told by my PEBLO to expect IPEB results w/in 5 months of completing my VA physical/evaluation. I was told by the VA to expect 9 months total. On here I'm seeing anything from 4 months to years.
Also, is there a difference in time depending on what program your in? For example, does the new joint dod/va pilot program move quicker than the old system?

I'll keep this updated with my info.

I wish I could say my timeline was going as smoothly as most of the guys on here, congrats for the short delays. I'm still waiting on a decision unfortunately.

May 2009 - Case Referred to PEB
June 2009 - Completed all VA appointments and NMA
July 13, 2009- Packet sent to DC for review/Decision
August 21, 2009- PEBLO says that the board just recieved my packet on August 3rd, indicating somehow my record was in LIMBO for 3 weeks with no explation why... Expect at least 8 weeks for an answer
September 22, 2009- Spoke with PEBLO and my decision was in the Q/A process.
October 7,2009- My decision did not pass the Q/A process, it has been kicked back to the review board, no explanation why or how much longer to expect for it to take.

I would love to get this process sped up, on top of all this I am a geo-bachelor and haven't seen my wife and daughter in 10 months, but timeliness is never a concern for the military as we all know.

I hope that you get the process sped up, I sucks to sit in limbo for so long.

be sure to keep in touch with your PEBLO, contact him/her at least every two weeks to get a status. do not be disrespectful. just a simple hey i was checking in with you will do.

Good luck

Great news and a huge relief..... I got my results back to day, 10% with severance, I go in Monday to do the paperwork. I would have liked retirement but since I mainly just have muscle and nerve damage in my leg I knew the VA wouldn't rate it high, and it was my only disqualifying condition. Just nice to know that an answer is in after all the wait and frustration with this process.

June 2004 - Leg problems started, misdiagnosed for 4 straight years
May 2008 - Chronic Compartment Syndrome correctly diagnosed and surgery is done, all the years of misdiagnosis and damage done by being forced to run with the messed up led to the guarenteed failure of the surgery...
October 17,2009- Packet back to the QA for review again, it took roughly 2 weeks to go from being rejected by QA to getting back for another QA review.
October 23 - Called by the PEBLO to say my decision is in, 10% rating for my leg only, don't know the amount assigned to everything else yet by the VA.
October 26 - Appt with PEBLO to work on paperwork.

Retirement would have been nice, but at least a resolution lifts a huge weight off my shoulders... I can't wait to get back to Oklahoma and see my wife and daughter again, its been almost 11 months since I have seen them.

Pretty efficient, for my experience with the Army and bureaucracy:

P3/referral to MEB for Chronic Back Pain: 30 Jul 09
Initial MEB Physical/Briefing: 25 Aug 09
Part II MEB Physical/ROM/NARSUM Draft: 24 Sep 09
DCSS approved NARSUM: 1 Oct 09
Reviewed/signed final NARSUM: 6 Oct 09
Packet sent to IPEB (Germany): 8 Oct 09
Received by PEB (D.C.): 9 Oct 09
IPEB Finding to PEBLO (Germany): 23 Oct 09
Sign IPEB Finding: 26 Oct 09(t).

Unfit finding, 40% PDRL.

Thanks be to God!!!
