It's been a while since I've been on here since I didn't really have any info to report but got some news today and I wanted to update my timeline. This is from the start of the MEB to my retirement date.

Mid-March 2012: MEB initiated
27 March 2012: 1st mtg with PEBLO
4 April 2012: 1st mtg with VA Rep, VA claim starts
16 - 19 Apr 2012: QTC appointments
7 May 2012: Add'l QTC appts for more x-rays/lab work
7 June 2012: NARSUM completed
18 June 2012: 2nd mtg with PEBLO, receive NARSUM - local MEB states "does not meet retention standards/refer to IPEB"
21 June 2012: 3rd mtg with PEBLO, return signed NARSUM, turn in Letter of Exception
22 June 2012: Package off to the IPEB
10 July 2012: Ebenefits - "Gathering of Evidence"
Mid-Aug 2012: Ebenefits - "Pending Decision Approval"
20 Sep 2012: 4th mtg with PEBLO, received proposed DoD/VA ratings (my VA claim went through the Baltimore office)
1 Oct 2012: Requested FPEB
11 October 2012: Given FPEB report date
30 October 2012: Report to FPEB
2 November 2012: Formal hearing
5 November 2012: Received FPEB results
14 November 2012: Submitted SECAF appeal
24 January 2013: SECAF appeal decision back
13 March 2013: Expected start of PTDY/Terminal
27 April 2013: Retirement date

My PEBLO and I thought it would take almost a month to get orders but I got them four hours after meeting with him!

My SECAF appeal was due to the FPEB refusing to recognize PTSD as an unfitting condition/combat related. I won my appeal and now have 70% TDRL and the PTSD is categorized as combat related!

Good luck and don't lose hope!

LOL,

18 Nov 2011-hip replaced
oct 2012-referred to MEB
January-2013-still no peblo meeting/package not completely written
Tinker is GREAT!

Oh no! I am so sorry. I think I was very lucky in how quickly my stuff went through. Hang in there and if you ever need any help or just need to vent, let me know!

Its not that big a deal, in the year Ive waited, my other hip has collapsed, my spine has bent 9cm to the left, my knee has gone out and countless other non ortho issues- so really, ive been getting full pay and benefits for 6hr days, narcotics out the yinyang and since Nov have not even had a duty title. Yup except for the whole miserable pain and agony everyday of my life everything is going according to plan :(

they said PTSD wasn't unfit? Was it referred as not meeting retention standards?

Oh yeah, that doesn't sound like a big deal at all - good grief! The upside to the wait is you are still getting paid but the daily pain must make your life unbearable. I wish you all the best and I hope the pain subsides!

Mental Health refused to list PTSD as one of my boardable conditions despite my objections so I believe this hurt my case initially. Unfortunately, I wasn't as educated on the process back then. The IPEB found the PTSD as a Cat II condition not Cat I.
