I've been seeing posts across all branches on this forum that the VA is backed up and there is a delay in claim processing. I remember back in AUG that my VA MSC said something about the VA doing a turnover to a bunch of new raters so they have to train up new people. But thats just rumor mill.

Regardless of the real reason, they seem to be backed up. If you call the VA and they say your case has been assigned a rater is still should be a matter of weeks.

This waiting game is rough. My packet has been with a rater since 15JUL.
 
My packet was sent to VA May 15, got a letter in the mail July 2 that I was assigned a rater. Received my proposed ratings August 20, finalized ratings 40% DoD 80% VA August 24th.
 
UPDATE: I had surgery on 24 Aug, and had to reschedule my FPEB. Unfortunately for me, they are implementing a brand new system and wont be scheduling FPEBs until late September. I was told that my tentative new FPEB date is 30 Sep 25.

UPDATE: The board scheduled for 30 Sep was pushed to 7 Oct due to the launch of the new case management system. However, due to the shutdown of the government, I have been told that my board will be on hold until the government is funded and returns to normal operations.

Damn, there’s hope to this end. I landed with 10% DoD / 90%VA, not sure what to do either elect they add another unfitting condition then VARR or VARR first. I have until 12JAN26 to respond, got my finding on 30DEC25. What recommendations you have to find the knowledge to make a decision?

If you feel like you have additional unfitting conditions, and you have documentation to that end, you should request a formal PEB. You will be appointed a lawyer and the lawyer will be able to represent you. In my case, they were extremely successful and helpful.

My PEBLO said I should try to take my 40% Spinal Stenosis as the unfitting condition. Tomorrow I’ll meet with my appoint lawyer from IDES. Plan to meet with a 2nd PEB lawyer on Thursday to see their point of view.

VARR Submitted: 27 Jan 26.

I was told there was an issue with my VARR being sent from the PEB to the VA. My lawyer was arguing one of the ratings that was originally rated low from the VA counts as a residual of my unfitting condition. There was an extension filed, and it was finally sent as-is. Now waiting on the VA to get the results back to the PEB, finalize and send to PERS. Can anyone confirm this is the correct order of operations with the new system (NDITS)?
 
Update: Called the VA, they received my VARR on the 27th, and it moved to the decision phase on the 28th. Not sure what this means as far as timeline, but looks to be moving quickly.
