I just got referred and started the process for MEB/PEB and idk why but i am nervous as shit. I mean I’m scared because I’ve heard horror stories. Without going into to much detail the conditions going to the board not the va claim is Mild Tbi,Transit altered of awareness, post traumatic headache, post concussion syndrome that’s from the Tbi neurologist/ specialist and my addendums are from Ortho spine for Si joint disfunction and saccrolitis or how ever you spell it. And the other from Mental health PTSD. I have heard that they are not finding people unfit for those and I’m really kinda freaking out because i was prescribed a medical alert service dog by the navy and now I’m scared if they find me fit and what if i deploy and i know i can’t take my dog with me idk how i would cope. Idk I’m just really freaked out right now. So if anyone knows about some or all conditions i stated and how it turned out would you please kinda explain and let me know if people are just being dicks and saying that. Thank you in advance.

Freaking out is a frequent reaction. It is not fair to yourself to read about a person with PTSD or any other disease and say he/she was returned to duty. PTSD and other diseases have lots of variability. Some people have only mild symptoms while others are severely effected.

Take a deep breath and wait for the system to work. There are multiples checks and balances. If you don't get the right answer you can appeal. It is all part of the process.

My guess if you were given a dog, your symptoms are significant enough to warrant a MEB/PEB. When symptoms are significant TDRL or PDRL or usual the decision of the board.

It is a long process, so do your best to relax. Many people have been through the process and got the results they needed.

Best wishes

Thank you sir, I just don’t want to loose my Dog the one thing that’s gotten me to be able to at least go to my appointments better. I do have a question my injury started in 2013. And since then i went on two deployments. The first one right after my injury i went on a lot of medical stuff was popping off and i was trying to get help but the command i was at was not supportive of me i ended up going home 6 months into my 12 months because of my mother on HUMS orders from there i was really bad. With everything with my mom and myself denying i had major problems and masking it and just doing my best to hide it. I re enlisted and came back to my original command went on a deployment where to the command i was doing good but really i was having MAJOR headaches and back pain and my PTSD really started getting pass the stage of hiding and me not being able to play it off as just deployment emotions. So i was holding on by a thread and when i got home i had a friend and my wife finally convinced me to get help so i did. But my command when i left to go on my Limdu orders before i started my command gave me a good eval while i was there and when i left. My senior chief knew my problems and was really happy i was getting help. My question is does it hurt me that i hid my problems for so long and had a couple of good Evals. I know they gave me good evals because the senior really liked me and that was the same unit i was hurt at and they where looking after me. I served in the same unit twice. And i had people say that they where denied because they had good evals. Like i said i don’t think i could make it on another deployment i don’t think i would make it home. Especially without my dog. He has made me stronger and actually get out of the house for my service dog training. I just don’t want to loose my dog and then in turn go back to locking myself in my room and possibly loosing my wife and kids because i can’t function.

No, this is typical GI mentality. Many GIs do this. All military/VA providers know this. Just be honest now. It is in the open, so be honest with yourself and with your providers.
