Anyone develop glucose problems after Seroquel/Quetiapine

I don’t know what “a lot” is, but from the MEDCOM policy, it seemed like “if antidepressants weren’t working, just add an antipsychotic” was a standard practice that they later warned against.

Anyone develop glucose problems after Seroquel/Quetiapine

It was mentioned as a standard practice in the MEDCOM policy that doctors were adopting from civilian doctors. It was also mentioned in the Seroquel lawsuit that the maker recommended off-label use to civilian doctors. Finally, it was mentioned to me as “something we used to do” by a BH provider...

Excerpt from MEDCOM policy: Para 7.f.(5).(b). Paraphrase: Atypical antipsychotics (used off-label) often provide more harm than benefit, including weight gain, glucose dysregulation, and extrapyramidal side effects. While Quetiapine has not undergone the same rigorous testing as Risperidone...

A little Google and a lot of trying to understand legal speak resulted in discovering that Seroquel was sued by a whole bunch of people and the suit eventually went to settlement for between $10,000 and $25,000 per plaintiff for failing to disclose increased risk for diabetes for Seroquel users...

WARNINGS WITHHELD ABOUT SEROQUEL, PART OF VA'S PTSD "DRUG COCKTAIL" -- 03-03-2009

Hi Jason, your link no longer seems to be working but I’m very interested. Do you have more information on Seroquel side effects? I think it broke my brain and my body, which will be important for my PEB. I will also Google. Thanks!
