Sleep Apnea

Has anyone been sent to an MEB for sleep apnea? I understand it usually is not a board-able condition but was curious if anyone has gotten to an MEB solely based off obstructive or central sleep apnea.

I doubt it unless you are not responsive to CPAP treatment or invasive options like jaw surgery. Currently in the trial process for CPAP waiver, but I expect a MEB as I am also dealing with migraines (and possibly a herniated disk in my neck) as a flyer. My flight doc told me that if you have any DQ conditions, they have to submit a combined waiver, e.g. they can't give you separate waivers for OSA and migraines in my case. They must push and get approval for the combined waiver, which is apparently much harder than single conditions. Here's a snip of the waiver guidance for flyers, I'm assuming it's similar or more lenient for other AFSCs.

BL;UF - if you have other MEB-able conditions, they must be adjudicated before your OSA is even considered for a waiver.
