    Pilot with Migraines

The new triptan has pretty much the same efficacy rate as my old meds, so no improvement. I have been doing PT as well, which feels great in the moment (basically a massage), but results in flare-ups about 30 mins afterwards. Also have my 30 day CPAP compliance appt coming up, so I figure more...

    VA Rating After IDES

Temporary Disability Retirement List vs Permanent. TDRL members WILL have occasional DoD reexaminations to determine if your condition has improved enough for you to RTD or drop from medical retirement to medical separation. These DoD exams do NOT affect VA ratings. PDRL individuals have no DoD...

    Sleep Apnea

That is definitely a neat bit of tech. I don’t think they’ll let you go for it without a bit of documentation showing cpap non-responsiveness. I assume they would probably start by changing mask types, cpap pressure , then move to a bipap first before trying the implant. Worth bringing it up...

    Sleep Apnea

I doubt it unless you are not responsive to CPAP treatment or invasive options like jaw surgery. Currently in the trial process for CPAP waiver, but I expect a MEB as I am also dealing with migraines (and possibly a herniated disk in my neck) as a flyer. My flight doc told me that if you have...

    Severance Pay back

It depends. Typically, they will completely hold your VA pay until you are done paying back the severance. That said, I have seen people say they were able to get their VA pay reduced by a little until the severance was paid back. I believe the official guidance is that they WILL hold ALL VA pay...

    Pilot with Migraines

Met with PCM, going to try a different triptan. Told waiver would be unlikely/very hard at this point. Elected to continue the treatment process and whatnot.

    Pilot with Migraines

Received my first Kenalog injection in the neck today. Dr. noted that if the issue is mechanical, then it will likely not help.

    Pilot with Migraines

I see. In my case, although not always prostrating or accompanied by aura, I pretty much have a migraine event/ headache everyday with mixed triptan efficacy, so I’m not really holding my breath.

    Pilot with Migraines

CPAP titration results received and uploaded to MHS Genesis. Still waiting on CPAP pickup. Expecting the temp ALC code at some point. Next meeting with PCM set for 27 May due to availability. Next meeting with the "Non" neurologist is set for tomorrow.

    Pilot with Migraines

Still waiting on the results from the second part of the CPAP titration. PCM wants to hold off to see if CPAP helps with migraines and OSA. Titration was 6 April

    Xolair MEB

I am in a similar boat to you. AF pilot with migraines, currently on triptans with sporadic to little efficacy. Been on non-flying status for nearly this whole year. I would expect a neurology consult if you haven't already. I am in the dark like you, but from what I surmised from the pubs and...

    Pilot with Migraines

Yeah, I've had friends reclass during UPT due to medical issues, but I've heard separation is more likely than reclass after you've been operational for a while. I'm expecting to PCS to my second operational flying tour within the year, so I think they would lean towards the separation or making...

    Pilot with Migraines

Update: It seems that the "neurologist" my pcm/tricare selected was simply a pain management doc/PT specialist. They are coded as a neurology specialist in Tri-Care, but the doctor admitted that he was not a neurologist at all. They weren't really familiar with anything besides physical...

    Pilot with Migraines

Good evening, I am currently undergoing medical workup for migraines w/aura. I have been DNIF and prescribed triptans (oral) by flight med since January. I am currently waiting on a true Neurology diagnosis, but the appointment process seems to be extremely slow post-referral (Cannon). Is there...
