IDES Timeline

I wish it was 4-5 weeks. And yeah I think they're telling people 4 to 6 months to not get their hopes up.

The supervisor said PEB briefed them today that they needed to inform members that cases will take approximately 6 months redardless of when the package was submitted. It doesn't just apply to the people with recently submitted packages, it is as a whole. Apparently they are trying to rework the process to speed things up but she didn't elaborate on how that would happen. The PEB also said that they will not expedite a case no matter the circumstances to include dual military situations.

Fuuuuuuuuuuck!
Submitted to PEB on June 2nd for me—63 days so far.
My EAOS was May 16th and I already had to sign one 6 month extension for this whole process.
I am right there with you my EAOS was February and I have already signed two extensions. At this point I just want to be out and done.

That is unfortunate. We’ll see if my congressman can do anything and ruffle some feathers. What they are doing is criminal and just disrespectful. Good luck to all, stay strong.

I mean. That means they'd be putting a pause on everything which I highly doubt.

And also they kind of have to. Navy&USMC are the only ones not in line with DoD guidelines that state the IPEB should take no more than 60 days.

Also this is the same people who put out a memo telling PEBLOs not to tell anyone about the slowdown. They're trying to cover their own ass by stating the maximum timeframe cause they're getting bitched at left and right for not moving stuff along.

I just wrote to my congressional reps too after everything today.

sounds like i need to have a conversation with my PEBLO tomorrow and see if she knows anything. Then maybe have a conversation with my senator.

Maybe if enough of us bring this up they will light a fire under it. The slow down was also brought about by the Delta variant issues and the restrictions that are being imposed now.

This was sent to me from my peblo on JUL 15
I just want to take this time to give you a courtesy update. This is a Memorandum from the PEB President in Washington:

In March 2020 in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, the PEB suspended in-person Formal PEB (FPEB) hearings for almost two months. Though voluntary telephonic FPEBs resumed in May 2020 and the Assistant Secretary of the Navy (Manpower & Reserve Affairs) approved an exception to policy that allowed the PEB to mandate telephonic FPEBs in July 2020, a significant backlog developed into the Fall of 2020. In response, the PEB focused on clearing this backlog, aided in part by the low volume of new cases coming to the PEB as a result of the VA’s backlog in completing Compensation & Pension (C&P) exams. By late March 2021, the PEB had successfully reduced the number of members awaiting an FPEB from 600 to 120.

By early March 2021, however, the VA was rapidly clearing their C&P backlog and 30 MTFs were funneling over 200 new cases to the PEB each week. With their typical complement of personnel, the PEB would be well prepared to absorb this surge. However, the seasonal reduction in manning caused by transfers and retirements compounded by several unexpected losses will result in increased processing timelines. New personnel are scheduled to report to the PEB throughout the summer, however, you can expect timelines to increase throughout the summer and into the Fall of 2021.

We recognize that as PEB timelines increase, You as well as the command may reach out with queries about when they can expect their findings. In response, the PEB is diligently and thoroughly working through the caseload and will not sacrifice quality for speed. Additionally, a specific response time cannot be provided as there are too many variables that go into each case adjudication. Finally, to ensure the PEB staff is not distracted from their case adjudication responsibilities, Please contact me as the PEBLO for future updates, however, if you have not heard from me or another PEBLO, there are no further updates.

So according to multiple PEBLOs that's not the case. Back in late winter/early spring they let members of the board(s) PCS/get out and had no replacements. Effectively leaving vacancies that slowed down work production.

They did this to themselves and aren't willing to go the extra mile to fix it.

I was referring to the 6 month timeline that was just put out.

I mean that's more of a convenient excuse than a reason. DoD just put stuff back into effect this week.

The goalposts have been shifting since April as to expected turnaround times. I was told 4-8 weeks back in April when mine was submitted but here I am at week 14. Almost double the max I was told.

Don't get me wrong. I take COVID seriously. But we all know it's been in a lull restrictions wise for military until just this past month.

when i first got submitted to medboard in march i was told 45, then 45- 60, then when it was submitted to PEB on APR18 i was told to plan for 60 then on the 63rd day i was told there is a 60 day delay. and now if the 6 months is correct i'm calling my senator.

I'm not sure what you're looking for me to say. I was just telling the forum what I was told.

I am still completely confused on where I am in the process; apparently mine was sent to the PEB from MEB in early June for adjudication, but I've yet to hear from a PEBLO. It certainly would relieve some anxiety if the Navy had more transparency, like the Army & Air Force have with the IDES dashboard.

Anyone get their findings back who submitted in May? I heard some people in April have gotten their findings.

I haven't heard of anyone getting their results that had theirs accepted after my date, April 20. I have heard of a few in the "teens" of April getting their results but nothing in the "20's". Hopefully everyone in the single digits of April have gotten theirs, i think most of the people active on this forum have, but it was at the 14-17 week points.

Call your peblo and ask, if they don't answer call several different times a day until they answer. Or if you have the ability, show up in person and get em that way. Peblo works for you, they are your liaison. Put them to work.

Any updates?
I told my JAG today that on Tuesday after I call my PEBLO, if there is no update then I am going to contact my Congressman to have him inquire. He said that he thinks it’s a good idea and the right time to do it. He was hesitant before just because he didn’t want to draw any extra unnecessary attention to the case. Tuesday will be the 16 week mark.
