Am I just being anxious for no reason

Hey everyone. Wanted to hop on here and share my timeline thus far and see if I could get some insight on what is happening? I'm not hearing from anyone anymore and it is really just making me nervous because I have no idea what is going on, or what should even be happening right now.

Referred to MEB : June 22, 2023
Consult with Attorney: July 6, 2023
C&P Exams: July 17- August 2.

Then, nothing. I am seeing all of the DBQ's except the General Medical one that was on 02 Aug on Tricare Online, but there has been nothing at all. I can't get ahold of my PEBLO for anything, and have just been trying to wait patiently, but it isn't working out. Any ideas on what is happening, could be happening in the process?

I saw a timeline post in another thread here that showed MEB being 20 days. That would expire tomorrow if held true, but unsure how the time is calculated actually.

Any seasoned words of advice from anyone would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

This is a normal wait phase. You can use this time to make tentative plans and prep for possibilities.

Have you heard anything back yet? I had my last C&P exam on August 4th but still waiting on a couple DBQ's to be loaded as well. Including my General Medical Exam.

I think for me (also Navy), it was about 1 month from the time my last C&P was inputted until the MEB was complete. I think after the last C&P it was 3-4 weeks before TOL had everything uploaded

The last of my DBQ's were just loaded into TOL. The exam was on 02Aug, and they were uploaded on 28Aug. Now I presume I'm just waiting for the MEB to work its findings out from the documents.

Yeah, so from my experience on the Navy side your referring provider will have the opportunity to update the NARSUM based on the DBQs that were sent back. After that, assuming your NMA is in, then you can accept their comments or submit a Rebuttal/request an IMR, but if you don’t do any of those, then it’ll be sent to the Convening Authority and Senior Member for sign off and their recommendation. If they recommend continuing with the IDES process, it’ll be sent to the PEB and then you’re about 3-4 months from getting findings and VA ratings

When you say update the NARSUM based on the DBQs, do you mean more things can be added as referred conditions?

My NMA has been in since before my C&P's so just trying to make sure I understand what could be happening next. The only thing is, I was referred for one thing, and during the DBQ's brought up other things that may/may not be unfitting, so would be interested in knowing if they can be added for referred conditions as well.

They can update the verbiage they used to update your diagnosis and prognosis. I believe they can add in other referred conditions, but I’m not 100% sure on that one.

Just updating timeline as the last couple of days have made some progress seemingly.

NARSUM (Round 1) Signed: August 29, 2023
IMR Submitted: Sept 1, 2023
New Referred Condition added: Sept 7, 2023

I was afraid that my 1 referred condition alone wouldn't grant a high enough rating by itself to surpass the 30% mark alone, so had another issue added to the condition list. Now just awaiting the 2nd NARSUM signing for that wrap up.

Today has been an eventful day. PEBLO let me know that my case has been with the IPEB Presiding Officer for 2 days. I checked my VA app to find out that it was showing my claim as closed with an IDES Benefits Estimate Letter. I called VA and they sent me the proposed ratings. HUGE Weight off of my chest.

For folks that are past this point, how long have you seen from this point onto out of service? Any estimates would be greatly appreciated!

Not going to be a fun time. From my understanding you’re probably either just hitting the QA stage or about to. I’ve been at that point for a little over 3 weeks, the average time right now appears to be 6-8 weeks until you get results. I think it’s another month or so after those results.

Yeah, PEBLO stated that once the Presiding Officer signed off on it, it would go into QA. He didn't want to make a guess on the timeline of that before findings would be sent back. I haven't even been told fit/unfit yet, but the strong assumption is unfit. If the DOD accepts the proposed ratings though, I'm looking at 70% DOD/100% VA, so at least there is that now.

Honestly, all that matters for you is TdRL vs PDRL then right? Your MSC should be able to say if a fit/unfit determination has been made.

What number did you call to get your proposed ratings? i just looked on the VA and it said my case was closed as of yesterday. But it says i have a benefits letter that i can't look at. Also, i wonder also when the paperwork will get back to us for signature to get orders.

Hey, I apologize I just now saw your question. I called 800-827-1000. It gives a telephone tree, but one of the options was to request letters, and that is where I got to talk to the woman who helped me.

I'm still awaiting word back from my PEBLO again on where the case is sitting because I still haven't gotten it back for signing.

My MSC just told me that there was nothing that he could tell me, and to talk to my PEBLO.

I heard through the grape vine that MH conditions required TDRL, but I'm curious if that is still true if another referred condition is rated at 40%. Seems like it would already be PDRL even without the MH condition.

I got my results today. I was rated 80% for my first referred condition and I’m going on the PDRL. I have a MH condition as a secondary condition so it doesn’t HAVE to be TDRL, im not sure how it would work for you though because my first condition was above the cap for disability retirement pay so the second one actually doesn’t matter.

If you max out at 75% for DOD on PDRL for unfit conditions they will not require you to be on TDRL for any unstable conditions:). So you will be permanently retired:)

That’s all good info. Thanks a lot. My back problem was my primary referred condition and it is proposed at 40%. Looks like overall with that and the MH reading I’ll be at 70% DOD. I’m still waiting on findings from the PEB, and really wouldn’t mind TDRL, except it would be nice to just be done and not have to worry about any of it anymore.
