Correct. Honestly, if you’re not worried about having Tricare it can be a pretty good amount of money to leave with depending on your rank/ time in service. It can be a nice cushion to basically start over with. For me, I prefer the tricare because I have a family and my VA rating for unfitting...
If you get a severance the VA won’t pay you for that claim that you got the severance for from the DOD. It would be just the unfitting condition(s). You would still receive VA benefits for all other claims
I only know a few people who appealed their final ratings and it added months onto their process. Around 6-8 I believe but obviously every one is different. I’d talk to legal and see what they say about it if you haven’t already and that could provide you the best clarification on steps forward!

Any update on this? I heard the PEB is taking around 30 days after proposed VA rating. They won’t send the letter to you (unless you spam call the VA and find someone who will) they’ll send it to your PEBLO so they’ll have it
I am in the same stage as you. It’s really just a waiting game even more at this point. the PEB has been taking about 30 days to get the DA199 back as of lately is what I was told but I know a lot of people that have gotten it much quicker
