If your case is sent to the VA for ratings then you have been found unfit. They don’t rate people they’re returning to duty.

My VA case closed and I got my ratings on 22 October, I have been waiting since then for my DA199. Best advice I can give you is be prepared to wait.

Update from me: VA case closed 22 October, tomorrow will be 4 weeks since then and I’m still waiting on my ratings and DA199. I call my PEBLO every week and he acts like I’m bothering him and doesn’t tell me shit. My case is being handled out of Fort Eisenhower, but I’m not at Fort Eisenhower so...

You and I are extremely close on timelines; I was found unfit and sent to the VA on 29 August, and my VA claim closed 22 October. Still waiting on my DA199, PEBLO said he checked yesterday and still nothing.

My proposed rating letter from the VA said I should file for GERD. I’m going to wait until this whole shit show is completely over before I start messing around with anything else.

This is a topic that is asked frequently and here is the most simple way to answer: If the board finds you fit you are immediately returned to duty. If you are found unfit your file is sent to the VA for ratings. So, if your case is at the VA, you are unfit without a doubt.

I was in the exact same situation as you, YOU HAVE TO GET TO 20 YEARS to get both your pension and VA disability concurrently without dealing with CRSC. TERA does not exist for the Army. Make it to 20 years, then get the MEB, you at 60 will thank you.
