    Just got my ratings 70% TDRL/90% VA

    Ratings reconsiderations are an entirely different story, and of course you can appeal the ratings number that you got, but it generally takes some new evidence. Or, if you have evidence that they incorrectly applied the standards of 38 cfr.

    Please help!!! VA claim closed today.

    Keep in mind that your online status through the VA website is generally not correct or up-to-date or reliable until you have actually left service. It is much better to get that information directly from your VA rep.

    Just got my ratings 70% TDRL/90% VA

    No you cannot, as a rule. TDRL is an administrative determination based on the status of your condition, with regards to permanence or potential for improvement or deterioration. Now, if there is evidence in the file that they failed to take into consideration, you might have an appeal on the...

    Admin Sep after medical retirement date.

    Not sure who told you that, but it's not entirely accurate. I have seen people with signed findings still get run out of the Navy for conduct issues.

    TDRL —-> Return To Duty

    I don't know about increasing chances. I am not a recruiter or anything like that. The biggest thing of course is getting your paperwork to reflect properly that you are 100% fit. Then I suppose, just applying some common sense, that if you have a specialty that is in demand, that would help you...

    TDRL —-> Return To Duty

    It's rare, like <1%, but it does happen. You get your RE code changed on your DD214, and that gives you the ability to go back through a recruiter. You don't go deal with your old command at all. You were *retired,* they have no ability to bring you back.

    TDRL to PDRL question

    Wait, you've been on PDRL for four years and you're only now getting your permanent retired ID?

    O3E with 24 years of service force medical retirement

    In my inexpert experience, it can. For example, if your years of service give you >75% (i.e., 30+ years), but your PDRL is capped at 75% by law. You'll get PDRL but at your higher percentage. Not sure I answered what you were asking. Bottom line. "It depends." I hate that f&$*@ng answer, lol

    O3E with 24 years of service force medical retirement

    Only speaking for Navy, TIG for officer retirements from prior enlisted service generally gets waived because it's not your fault you didn't make the time requirement.

    O3E with 24 years of service force medical retirement

    "High 3" term is for pay purposes only.

    Hypothetical

    That makes a lot of sense. The way people call it a choice, it makes it sound like they are rejecting pay options altogether. But making the choice whether to waive their retired pay in favor of the VA pay is a whole different thing, and I was not thinking about that. Thank you for clarifying.

    TDRL to PDRL question

    How long has it been since you accepted your pdrl findings for your final DOD rating?

    Best of luck to you in finding what you need. I'm out.

    Hypothetical

    You don't really "choose" like that. The way I understand it being done now, DFAS will tell you the different ways they calculated, but it's not like they are going to let you make a choice that causes you to lose money that you have earned. I will let someone else who has more recent experience...

    TDRL to PDRL question

    No, you don't get orders. You're retired, no orders for retired folks. You will get a letter with instructions on how to take care of the ID card.

    My Timeline - Currently Waiting on VA for Ratings

    The P is for permanent, the T is for temporary. If you are permanent, you don't have to deal with the service ever again, your retirement percentage will never change. If you are temporary, you have 36 months of retirement benefits while you continue to get treatment for your condition. You have...

    TDRL Reevaluation

    Do all the services use "RE" codes on their DD214s? I am told when you get found fit from tdrl for Navy it clears the RE code on the DD214 that was previously preventing you from rejoining the service. Not sure how that works in other services besides navy.

    TDRL Reevaluation

    They don't bring you back from TDRL. You can be found fit, which ends your retirement benefits, and that gives you the option of going back through a recruiter to rejoin. If you choose not to, you're just a free civilian with a VA rating.

    TDRL Reevaluation

    It is also important to attend the appointment because if you do not, you can be removed from tdrl all together for failure to comply with the program.

    My Timeline - Currently Waiting on VA for Ratings

    And he's not wrong, by the book. Problem is, a lot of PEBLOs and lawyers will give their undwrstanding of the proposed ratings, or a guess based on their experience, and then the actual ratings come back different...and then people lose their minds. Never trust proposed ratings, never make life...
