Discrimination against veteran based on vet status and disability

Does anyone know who to go to regarding discrimination issues? I have filed a complaint with the school, but don't feel that their response is going to be sufficient. Please let me know if you have any advice on where to take such an issue.

Jason, Hello, its been a while since i've been on pebforum.com. I was in a bad car accident and have also been in school full time. I have a question for you outside of the PEB area and am wondering if you have any advice on the situation. I don't want to post the details online so please email...

    Retained on TDRL

Jason, Thank you, sometimes what we don't want to hear is what we need to hear. TDRL is my last concern right now. New Year's Eve, actually about 11am Dec 31, I was hit by a lady who ran a red light pretty much head on. I'm seriously banged up. Nothing broken but my back and neck are really bad...

    Retained on TDRL

I go to Pacific College of Oriental Medicine here in San Diego. The senior interns, I believe they are in their 4th or 5th year of grad school, give the treatment with a doctor supervising. The treatments are 30.00 each with military discount and last for about 60 to 75 minutes. I went to a...

    Retained on TDRL

I am currently seeing a Navy psychiatrist and a civilian psychologist regularly. I also get weekly acupuncture. I haven't improved in the past 4 years and the whole PEB process just exacerbates all of my problems. I haven't slept anywhere near well in 4 years but in the past two months*since I...

    Retained on TDRL

Got a letter yesterday. Subject: Retention on Temporary Disability Retired List (TDRL) - Informal Reconsideration 1. This Physical Evaluation Board (PEB) has reconsidered its previous rating of 13 Nov 08. As a result of that review, the PEB recommends that you be retained on the TDRL with...

    Reults are back Today

TDRL is temporary disability retirement, PDRL is permanent. In TDRL you will be evaluated every 18 months to determine if your conditions stabilize for a final rating. Once your conditions have stabilized you will be re-rated and either placed in PDRL or separated with severance pay.

Are they calling him a liar?!

Hi, I have similar issues as your husband and will tell you what I know. That is a pretty thorough narrative that the board will look at. One of the things that helped with my first PEB were letters from my fellow soldiers who went through the events I went through and they saw the changes in me...

Timeline for PEB decison to retirement orders.

I imagine it would be frustrating to have someone not believe when something is wrong, but if your doctors have diagnosed you that is not disputable by any level of command. I had to "prove" I was traumatized at my first peb, they said I had to prove I had PTSD. I was angry at this because the...

    Chinese Medicine

I get acupuncture every Monday, it helps with my anxiety and knee pain. I recommend it to anyone who is dealing with pain, insomnia, or anxiety/depression. It has been around for a few thousand years, think it works pretty well

TDRL PTSD 18 Month Reassesment. What is the Typical Ruling

Update: I talked to my lawyer yesterday, he actually called me at 8pm. I wrote him an email on Sunday explaining that things were not going well and I wanted to avoid an additional TDRL hearing if possible. The whole process is too stressful and counterproductive. In the email I told him about...

    TDRL PAY...PLEASE HELP ME!!

Once the VA finalizes your claim you can elect to have them pay you. I did this and my DFAS checks stopped. I was told the benefit of the VA paying was that it was tax free.

    APPEAL OF RATING....HELP!

Sorry to hear you were told you just have to learn to deal with the pain. I'm in a similar situation. Heard pretty much the same statement from my ortho doc after they did microfracture. I told him it still hurt, he said you will have to get use to it. My knee has continued to deteriorate and...

TDRL PTSD 18 Month Reassesment. What is the Typical Ruling

That makes sense Jason. Thank you again. On my 199 they said "The soldier reports he continues to experience symptoms of anxiety, sleep disturbance and panic attacks. He continues to receive counseling and medication to control symptoms. The soldier continues to be unfit due to the risk of...

TDRL PTSD 18 Month Reassesment. What is the Typical Ruling

Jason, Thank you for the well wishes. I appreciate the information. I know all is not lost yet, but I feel like I'm fighting a losing battle. In your experience, is attending school a strong case for them to deny placing me into PDRL? I know that every board is unique, but your experience in...

Is anyone accountable for these boards?

Do you know if there is a set guideline regarding PTSD and placement into PDRL? My lawyer told me that I need to be rated at 50% in order to be permanently retired due to PTSD. By the VARSD standards, I am clearly at 30%, the only thing preventing me from being at 50% is I don't require...

TDRL PTSD 18 Month Reassesment. What is the Typical Ruling

Another thing I would recommend to anyone going through a PEB for PTSD is to have your provider perform a CAPS exam periodically and make sure that goes into your medical records. CAPS exams are the standard for diagnosing PTSD. Another thing I would recommend for you personally if you are...

TDRL PTSD 18 Month Reassesment. What is the Typical Ruling

Eric, I just went through the TDRL review and have been advised I will be removed from TDRL. I faxed in my appeal last week. When you go for your TDRL review bring everything you have documenting your treatment since being placed in TDRL. I had nearly 300 pages of medical records documenting my...

    An in depth introduction

Hello. My name is Daniel, I served from 2002 to 2006 in the Army. I was a reservist, but I only spent about 90 days of my enlistment in reserve status, I was otherwise on active duty the whole time. I was in Iraq from Nov 2003 to July 2004. When I returned from Iraq I was placed in Medical...
