I have been on the verge of a MEB for a lil over a year now for one reason or another. But i am finally at the beginning stages of the actual proccess so ill start my timeline now. My diagnosis is Sarcoidosis and Esophinillic esophagitis (EOE)

Sept 2021: Inital Diagnosis.
Jan 10th 22: Code 37 applied
Feb 28th 22: Rough draft CIS submitted to CC
March 4th 22: IRLO/NARSUM appointment with PCM
TBD:

I'm hoping my paperwork gets submitted to AFPC within in the next week or so and very ready to see if AFPC will direct a full MEB (I hope so), i know once it gets past AFPC there is like only a 5% retention rate

Yeah once you get directed for Full MEB I was told it is almost certain you will be separated/retired. My AMRO was in September and Im currently waiting for the VA MSC to get my QTC exams returned and its taking forever.

Does anyone here have experience or know how insurance (tricare) works if you get medically separated or medically retired?

I assume you keep tricare if you are medically retired but what about if you get under the 30% and get separated? Is there such a thing as tricare for life for dependents born with disabilities?

Unfortunately you will need the retiree status to get the tricare for you or your dependents. If you get separated your referred condition and any claimed swrvuce connected VA conditions will be covered for treatment by the VA. In the IDES process you get appeals for your ratings.

Update: Still waiting on PCM to submit the Narsum. Talked to PEBLO a few days ago and was told that they were supposed to have my package submitted within 30 days of being coded 37 (that was jan 10th) so I'm overdue.

I sent my PCM a message on patient portal last Wed and today asking if there was anything on my end that I still need to accomplish and just got a generic response from who i assume is the PCM's technician. Getting a little on the impatient side as i really just want this thing to get to AFPC so I know if they will do a full MEB or not. Not sure what else i should be doing but its been 3 weeks since my Narsum appointment and havent been given any updates on how much longer to expect it to take for the NARSUM/IRLO to be submitted. My CIS roughdraft has been done for over a month just waiting on NARSUM.

Yeah, the phase that you are in was the longest for me as well. I started my code 37 at the end of September and didn't get recommended for Full MEB/Briefed into IDES until December 30th. Once you get through Pre-IDES everything tends to speed up a little bit.

If your get 30% or more for an unfitting condition(s) then you are TriCare eligible. You have two main options in TriCare. Each program has its own benefits and premium. At 65 or otherwise Medicare eligible, you can go into TriCare for Life.

I suggest once you get your decision letter you give TriCare a call and discuss with them which plan will serve you best. It depends a lot on where you are going to live and also on you preferences. Standards has more co-pays but lets you select your provider for all docs that take TriCare. Think major medical. Prime locks you into to certain doctors among those approved for TriCare. Think HMO.

Here's the link to tricare costs as well. One advantage to Tricare Select if you're part of Group A which is vets that joined prior to 2018 is there are no premiums. Either way though, the costs are pretty low for Tricare Prime compared to private or marketplace health insurance.

Have you gotten your QTC and 618 already? I’m in the same boat

It has been 3 weeks since my head to toe C&P exam and it has not been uploaded into TOL yet while the other exams have been uploaded.

I called my PEBLO who told me she has no visibility on it and that i needed to contact the MSC. The MSC hasnt returned my email or phone call so i called the Doctor's office that did the exam and they said they sent in all the paperwork on the same day as the appointment.

So now I'm on hold (30 mins and counting) with Veterans Evaluation Services. It sucks you have to jump through a million hoops just to find out what is going on.

I’m in the same boat going on 2 months still waiting on my first exams DBQ when all rest have been uploaded on TOL.
