Hello everyone!

After a year and a half of dealing with not so fun symptoms and no one knowing what was wrong with me, I was finally diagnosed with Lupus (SLE). I know it's never Lupus, but I swear this time it is! Ever since my PCM told me I would be put up for a MEB I've been scouring the internet for information. This forum has been a huge help. Being able to read about others experiences and timelines has helped my anxiety through this whole process, so I thought I'd post my IDES timeline so far.

Dec 2018 - Notified of pending MEB by PCM
01 Feb 2019 - NARSUM finished
04 Feb 2019 - IRILO email notification
06 Feb 2019 - CC Impact Letter
07 Feb 2019 - Code 37
08 Feb 2019 - Case sent to AFPC
15 Feb 2019 - Full MEB email notification
19 Feb 2019 - PEBLO brief
21 Feb 2019 - VA MSC brief/claim**
27 Feb 2019 - QTC call to schedule C&P Exams
1-15 Mar 2019 - C&P Exams
29 Apr 2019 - C&P Results sent to PEBLO
30 Apr 2019 - Review NARSUM and C&P Results, sign 618
09 May 2019 - MyPers PEB Case File email notification

**Side note : I claimed a total of 27 conditions. My body is pretty messed up.

We have had pretty similar timelines it looks like! I'm 2 steps behind you...still waiting for an addendum to come in so I can review my 618. If you don't mind me asking, which base are you filing out of?

Hey! I'm filing out of Offutt AFB. Are you anywhere near here? This process feels like it takes forever. I can't believe it took so long for my C&P Results to be sent out. Hopefully this next step won't take as long. My PEBLO said I could be getting ratings back in the beginning of June....fingers crossed!

I'm at Fort Meade and my PEBLO is at Andrews AFB. It really is taking FOREVER and the unknowns are stressing me out so much. I already have anxiety and this is only making it worse. I'm claiming about 12 conditions I think, the unfitting condition being MS.

My C&P were super quick but then getting the results dragged out way longer than it was supposed too so I feel your pain!

June, huh? That would be awesome! My PEBLO isn't great so it's been like pulling teeth getting info from her.

Yes! There are a couple PEBLOs in the same office. One told me it would be 6-12 weeks and the other said that things have been processing rather quickly nowadays and 30 days has been the norm lately.

Sorry about the MS. Autoimmune diseases suck.

Hey fellow [Air Force] Lupie, I was just diagnosed in March (and I have/had a DOS of July). Long story short, I’m stationed out of Little Rock but I’m actually in San Antonio receiving treatment out of the Brooke Army Medical Center until a minimum of October (when my daughter is due; I was diagnosed with Lupus Nephritis at 10 weeks pregnant). With my diagnosis, my PCM (back in Little Rock and who is also the reason I sought medical attention elsewhere) is “supposed” to be putting me in for MEB—I’ve been working with the case manager on this to ensure I’m not separated from the AF mid-treatment. The update I continue to get is “the PCM says the narrative summary is written but she needs to look over it to make sure everything is there”.
My question is, knowing my background info, do you have any advice for me pressing forward to get this process moving in the correct direction? Should/can I request to read the narrative summary (because I don’t trust that my PCM has included everything)? I’m asking this forum because my case manager is new and always says “let me get back to you” and I’m left in the dark.

Hello!
Congrats on the pregnancy :) I heard it's pretty common for people with Lupus to flare up during/after pregnancy. My husband and I were going to start trying last last year but I had a really bad flare that lead me to a diagnosis. Now we have to wait at least a year because of the medication I'm on (I also have Lupus Nephritis class 3). Super frustrating.

Anyway, the whole MEB process takes a long while. Even though your DOS is July, they will not kick you out until the MEB is completed. From my understanding you will have to extend and then you will be put on medical hold. As you can see from my timeline, it took a few months for my PCM to finish my NARSUM. She wanted to make sure it was accurate especially since my condition was still developing and we were trying to figure out what medications I needed to be on. I did not see my NARSUM until I went in to sign my 618. If you are worried about your PCM missing something definitely ask your case manager if you can read it. Are you part of the Air Force Wounded Warroir program? They offered it to me and it's been really great! I have a nurse case manager as well as my PEBLO and another case manager in San Antonio.

Thank you! My specialists (Rhuem and Nephrology) actually told me it’s uncommon to flare during pregnancy. It suppresses your immune system so the chances are supposedly less likely. Who knows lol I’m just glad we figured it out because my swelling was out of control (I’m class 4 and 5).
My concern is that I am not coded for admin hold or MEB at this time. I cannot extend because my leadership is already aware that an MEB is supposed to be submitted but that is the snag—medical drives that ship and my PCM is the worst. I already told my case manager the issues I had with my PCM trying to figure out what was going on with me prior to my diagnosis and now I’m having issues with her and the MEB. She has been tasked with writing this narrative summary since February and still nothing is submitted. I’m just trying to have my bases covered you know?

Class 4 and 5?? Oof. Your poor kidneys :(The beginning of this whole process sucks. It's confusing to be told your being med boarded, but not hear anything about it for months. I had to message my PCM care team to remind them about the code 37. I guess the only advice I have for you is to keep bothering your PCM until they do what needs to be done. Do you know if they've sent your case to the DAWG yet? It needs to go through them before it goes through the IRILO and MEB process.

Checked my claim through VA.gov the other day and saw that my case was closed on June 11th. Figured it would take a few more weeks to actually get my ratings, but my PEBLO called today! I'm meeting with them some time tomorrow to go over the results. Kinda nervous. Wish me luck!

I’m getting my results tomorrow too! Good luck!

The results are in: 100% DoD/100% VA PDRL!! I signed all the needed paperwork today and should be out by the end of July. I'm still in shock. This takes so much weight off of my shoulders.
