Any thoughts... trying to have patience

I received a letter stating the board received my request back in Dec 2013. I emailed them for an update, normal automated response in early Jan this year. Then I get an email a week ago stating they've received all my records and the review will take 10 months. I've been seeing roughly 15 months for most start to finish but if they take as long as they say it will be 22 months for me.

Anyone else experiencing or experienced this time frame?

Something is wrong. The average processing time is less than 9 months from date of application.

Respond to the email, tell them the date of your application, and say "I thought the law said that 90 percent of applications had to be completed within 9 months of the date of the application."

I asked a similar question already and their response was there are no guarantees on how long it will take to process.

Sounds like Ed might have nailed it on the head.....

Holy Cow!

In the old days I saw cases which were "misplaced" for 4 to 6 years. That's why Congress passed a law mandating that the BCMRs have to complete 90 percent of their cases within 9 months of date of application.

Yeah my first guess was they lost it. My appeal with the VA took 6 years and that was in 2011. By the looks of completion dates only being done in certain months, I will assume mine could be done in November.

I filed mine in August of 2013. They said the VA wasn't sending my records to them. Just received an email on 3/2/15 and they received all my records. Only took 17 months for them to get my records from the VA, a new VA record!
Here is the PDBR's response:

"Sir,

Our Central Intake Unit collected all available copies of your VA and Service documentation, and our case is with the PDBR staff for review and adjudication. Once completed, your case recommendation will be sent to your Service Secretary's designated decision authority for final action. They will notify you by letter."

So no timeframe. Just have to keep waiting I suppose...

In the email mine stated 10 months for them to review and adjudicate, but in the attachment there was no time frame. I also wondered if they had a hard finding my service records because when I requested them I received a letter stating they were MISPLACED during the time they switched from paper to digital copies. Thankfully I found my set. I also confirmed that they did not send me to an evaluation for the MEB. They used my medical records.

Sounds like they lost your application and then found it . . .
Ed,
According to my wife, who works for the VA and was tasked to help the DOD contact all the people locally (don't want to say where, would hate to get my wife in trouble) who were eligible to apply for the PDBR. She told me that when she was in contact with Randolph, they told her they were stuck waiting on the VA to send out the records that were requested. I don't know how they are able to justify the wait time due to the law, but I wanted to pass on the info I received concerning wait times. Apparently, it is being put on the VA (kind of like everything else).
I myself sent in the application for the PDBR in February 2014, Last week I received an email stating my case has been sent to the DDA.

I would really like to change my VA. I moved right in the middle of Atlanta and Birmingham VA's. I am in the middle disability claims and a review for my severance pay recoupment. I paid mine off in 2011 and after a recent claim was completed they started the recoupment again and said I paid nothing before. I have been fighting this snice November 2013. So as much as I would love to switch I'm afraid if I did right now it was cause more issues from Atlanta's VA.

@ Ed Mercanti... Just want to say thanks. I used that sentence you wrote in this post to address my long unusual wait on my PDBR. Being at the 16 month mark, and seeing that they just collected my records, I simply copied and pasted the comment "I thought the law said that 90 percent of applications had to be completed within 9 months of the date of the application."

The following day, or the next day, they emailed me and said my case is being expedited as best they could.
