Code 37 Question

Hopefully this will become a timeline soon!

Quick question, though. I was recommended for MEB by my orthopedic surgeon for a chronic meniscus tear and significant arthritis developing in my right knee, interior (I am a TACP so it completely pulls me from my job). Without going into too much detail, this isnt the only medical issue, but it has become the most debilitating.

This orthopedic recommendation happened in December, AMRO referral from flight surgeon occurred March 3rd. The AMRO board has been canceled or deferred most cases over and over, and from my understanding hasnt even discussed my case yet. I spoke to a PEBLO who said it looks like it was deferred again until May. My DEROS and DOS are Feb 23 and I can make no career decisions under my current code 31.

Can I do anything to try and pressure folks to push this along? I just want to know if a code 37 is even going to be applied, and I'd prefer not to continually push my DEROS back until 2050 (lol..
). Should I contact my PCM again and bother them with questions?

Thanks!

I would definitely setup an appointment with your PCM and discuss everything. The sooner the better. It is what I had to do because often we fall through the cracks with how they overwork our PCMs. Put yourself on their radar and be clear of what you want out of it.

Not far along, but here is an update:

Ramstein AFB / Chronic Meniscus Tear w/ severe arthritis

Apr 26th - Code 37 Initiated
May 13th - CC impact statement submitted (Do not retain)
May 16th - NARSUM
May 17th - Package sent to AFPC

I'm being told that AFPC Ramstein is taking 30 days to process IRILO packets. Hopefully I'll have an update on 17 June!

So here's a funny story.. but not really.

Shortly after I sent my package to AFPC (maybe a month later), I was returned to duty with an ALC and a cross-training notification. I wasn't really interested in cross-training so I just punched, did my BDD VA exams, and am now on terminal leave. I've moved from my assignment area, have a new job, and settled nicely into my post-military life (I've been on terminal for over a month). My current DOS is 17 Feb

Well, the Ramstein PEBLO just reached out to me last week after completing my ARILO and said that "AFPC noticed that you "declined" the cross-training offer, and would thus like to offer you a full MEB if you return to duty and go into Med hold".... What??!! Mind you, I now have a great job and my previous assignment was in Germany.

So, I'm now waiting on a request to conduct remote work on behalf of my unit to get approved so that I don't have to quit my new job (which I was very lucky to get in the first place) while I undergo the MEB process. I'm irritated about this, but if it works out, I'll be working my new job during the day, and remote working, doing administrative tasks and such on nights and weekends throughout the duration of this LDES process (because I need to move it along as fast as possible). After talking to the PEBLO, they believe that they could complete the process within 2-3 months.

I'll post some updates here in case anyone else ever gets put in this position... freakin crazy!
