COVID-19

I had a severe case of COVID-19 in January of 2021, pre-vaccine. Since then I've had some long term consequences, mainly fatigue and brain fog. I put COVID-19 on my list of claimed conditions but there was no mention of it at any of my QTC exams until I brought it up. My question is: will there be a DBQ related to COVID at some point? How can I advocate for myself and others who are experiencing long term complications of COVID?

So COVID itself isn't a condition. I would just make sure you have all the symptoms documented in case that changes in the future. If you have the flu and had symptoms it would be the same thing. I know there is long COVID but if that becomes a thing it will probably take years if ever for the VA to acknowledge it.

Thanks for the info

Your MSC should help you make an appropriate claim. In some cases the VA rater will make an award you for X when you claimed Y.

Thanks for the advice. I put the brain fog and fatigue on the claims form and was evaluated at the C&P exam for chronic fatigue syndrome. The doctor stated that I did not have CFS but I'm wondering if I should try to argue that long COVID has the same symptoms. Thanks again.

I suggest you call your MSC. He/she should know the answer to how to handle a claim that is not in the CFR.
