CRSC and the Combined Ratings Table

So, for those of you already out on the other end, getting those big fat pensions checks - help a brother out.

Just how good is DFAS at using that Combined Ratings Table, to differentiate how much of what DFAS pays every month should be tax free?

Are they actually able to pull it off, of do they screw it up?

Come on - be honest. Just between us girls here. I'm dying to know.

my whole dfas check is tax free ... dont know what will happen once crsc kicks in thought

That's it? No one else has a comment on this? Come on, folks - I'm getting close to the end - looking for some light at the end of the tunnel, other than the train that's usually there.

I receive non-taxable VA compensation, and a tad bit of my leftover military retirement (PDRL after offset), and that tad bit is Fed & State taxed. I am 70% DoD and 100% VA P&T.

I am NOT currently combat rated for my DFAS DoD leftovers.

I receive less than the full amount of my 100% VA disability because I have my life insurance (VGLI) taken from my VA compensation before I get it. For me, I am paying 268 p/month (premium based on age and amount of life insurance value).

I get my SSDI and it is NOT taxed. I happen to live in Oregon right now, so I don't claim my SSDI as income for state taxation purposes.

SSA does take out the Medicare A/B health care insurance premium from my SSDI before the SSA sends my monthly SSDI to me (104.90 p/month).

Apply for CSC and once approved, that additional money will not be taxed.

Awesome. I won't be putting in for SSDI - I am banged up, but not to that point yet. Everything hurts, sure, but I'm not to that point.

OR kicks a whole lot of ass, esp. for 100% disabled vets - property tax breaks, waiving in-state tuition for dependants, etc. And they decriminalized pot yesterday? Hell yeah. OR, FTW.

Yeah. Pretty crazy world out there.

I think a lot of Oregonians think police actions can be better spent on other things of more importance than smoking pot in your home.

As I understand the rules (law), you can't walk around on the public streets and smoke pot like you can a cigarette, but you can't walk around in public drinking open alcohol either.

But next month in Oregon (effective I think 04 DEC 2014), a person will be able to "carry" in their possession no more than ONE ounce of pot, and can have no more than EIGHT ounces of pot in their residence. They will also be able to have no more than FOUR pot plants of any size on their property. Being in public/driving, etc., and under the influence did not change, nor did the rules that currently regulate medical marijuana.

Any alcohol that is beyond the normal alcohol content of beer and wine (beer/wine can be purchased in a grocery store or 7/11), is controlled by the OLCC (Oregon Liquor Control Commission).

OLCC is a State agency, and they have several "stores" all over Oregon where you buy your "hard liquor". And they run their "stores" on a State Employee schedule and NOT a 24/7 operation and are closed on holidays, etc. Of course, you can always buy a drink at a full-service bar (also regulated by OLCC laws).

OLCC will be the agency in charge of figuring out how to tax and regulate/license the public sale of pot (marijuana) to those aged 21 and over. No one really knows what this will look like just yet. Will there be retail outlets for the sale of pot - like alcohol bars? Will you be able to smoke pot or eat/drink pot at the retail location like people can do with bars that sell alcohol? And what about the supply chain - that's a big one because of the "carry" or possession rules.

So I suspect there will be tons of regulations on this pot thing - from grower to distributer to retailer to consumer. And I think this will make the cost of pot more expensive than it's current "street" pricing.

It will be interesting to see how this shakes out. Maybe I could get permitted to become an agri-farmer - too funny!

There were other ballot measures that passed - and didn't pass. But they didn't seem to get any national news traction.

Another ho-hum day in Paradise.

oh i am sorry been vacationing for the past couple of weeks like the previous post mention i was retired as pdrl with 100 dod 100 va ... Since i am a permanent disable vet my pay of 4722 is tax free. Eventually my VA benefits kicked in a couple of months ago and I started receiving 3200 from the va and then received 1522 from dod. This where things get tricky I was awarded CRSC at 100 percent and received an additional 1200 from DOD and awarded SSDI 2000. All of these checks appear to be tax free because of my military rating I had to do some research because it seem unbelievable but it is true. So in the upcoming weeks I will be vacationing more then use my vocational rehab and get another masters and doctorate and teach after i finish ... again sorry for the late response just been enjoying life after the military

Congratulations on making it to the top 1% of the "double" and triple" dippers.

Send of a post card - and enjoy your hard earned retirement.

Good luck in your academic pursuits.

Indeed, this is absolutely great to hear; hopefully, in the near future I can do the same!

Thus, I quite often comment that "possessing well-informed knowledge is truly a powerful equalizer."

Best Wishes!
