Final pay

I was wondering how long it takes to receive your last paycheck. My last day on active duty was 28may13. I was medically retired.

I have heard "rumors" that they keep the last check to verify any over payments or mistakes and once it is cleared it is paid out.

I'm sure there are others here that have gone through it and can explain.

Finance should have briefed you on this during out-processing. I forget how mine worked--if they did it electronically or mailed my final check out and how soon I got it.

So are you waiting on pay for May 16-28, correct, since you should have been paid on May 15?

If you don't get paid tomorrow, I'd call DFAS and inquire about your situation.

This sounds correct--as there shouldn't be any wait, since you must "clear" finance before you are able to final out.
