I think I’m an outlier but it took me from March 11 till May 7th for VA ratings.
Mine have been taking awhile too.
March 21: Case went to the PEB
April 9: PEB declared unfit

Good luck!Claim closed on 29 May and still no ratings.. PEB is finalizing my case. This process is dragging.
Thanks man. And it sounds like you’re in a really good spot. Good luck to you!Hell ya man, congrats! I had gotten witness statements a few months before my meb started and submitted them as soon as theeb kicked off.. They actually used my witness statements in my narsum as the onset of my injury in a tank in Ramadi in 2006.. I'm hoping for the same outcome. That V code is what I'm hoping for too.. Congrats again man.
That bit about being within 120 days of 20 years is gold. Is that from the day you received the 199? I’m at 19 and 5 months, been trying to make sure I don’t find myself out at 19 and 11.9 months if this were to go too fastI received my ratings today. 50% DoD & 100% VA. Both my unfitting conditions were also v3 combat coded by the PEB. And since I’m within 120 days of my 20 year anniversary, my 199 states that I will not be retired prior to reaching 20 years.
I’m extremely excited with how this worked out. And very relieved it’s almost over.
One tip that I would have for the group when attempting to have an unfitting condition combat coded, especially since appeals are so backed up — don’t hesitate to submit a personal statement and/or buddy statement to your PEBLO during the PEB phase. I submitted both the day that my claim closed in the VA app and requested that my PEBLO add them to my case file. I used ChatGPT to come up with a draft for it. My goal was to link my unfitting conditions to a jump injury which lacked medical records at the time of the event. I do believe the statements influenced the outcome.
I’ve done tons of reading leading up to this and this forum was a huge part of it. So, thank you to everyone who participates in these discussions. I wouldn’t have been able to navigate this process without everyone’s input.
Yea, I was really surprised to see that in there. Aside from the v3 being applied, I think the 120 day thing is what I was most excited about. That bit about being within 120 days of 20 years is gold. How much leave do you have to cut into that 120?Yea, I was really surprised to see that in there. Aside from the v3 being applied, I think the 120 day thing is what I was most excited about.
Not sure what exact day they based it off of. My 120 day mark was 30May, the PEB convened for my case on 5June, I received my ratings on 9June. I’d imagine that they base it off of when the PEB actually convenes.
What phase of the process are you currently in?
I have 80 days. My command is supportive of me taking up to the 20 days PTDY as well, but I don’t anticipate needing all of that. How much leave do you have to cut into that 120?
I’m in phase 0 for that reason. I talked to my PCM about waiting until NET 180 out from 20 years just to play it safe. We’re looking at starting the process here in about a month. Not sure what it’s going to look like at Campbell, but that blurb you got is reassuringYea, I was really surprised to see that in there. Oh, you’re fine then. I was referred at 19yrs/1mos. You’ll hit 20 easily. Good luck to you.I’m in phase 0 for that reason.
