I plan on initiating a MEB this year and I am currently at 19yrs 1 month and also at Cavazos. I have been conflicted over when I should speak to my provider to initiate this and am curious how your final out date was determined, as that will allow me to better pin a date to initiate my MEB. I would be looking at having a separating date no earlier than mid January 2025.

Why even try to MEB if you are at 19 years? Why not just submit your retirement packet and retire at 20 AFS years? If you reach regular retirement and have 50% VA rating or higher you will qualify for CRDP meaning you get all of your retirement pay and all of your VA pay. Unless the unfitting condition is combat related and your DOD% is higher than your 50% longevity pension there isn't a way to get more total compensation. The reason you could net more compensation with those 2 conditions being met is that your chapter 61 pension would be exempt from federal income taxes so the pay would be the same but you would get to keep more of it when exempt from taxes.

My understanding is your NLT date is typically 90 days from the date you sign your DA 199 and they receive your packet. I signed my 199 on 26 January and I hit the TRANSPOC list on 28 January with a NLT date of 28 April.
