Going Reserves after being Medically Separated from Active Duty

Hello, I was medically separated in Feb 2021 with 0% disability for the condition i was separated for. Basically the condition was asymptomatic but still did the full MEB informal and formal. I have a 2Q code on my DD-214 which both guard and reserve recruiters are having the hardest time figuring out a waiver since I ended up with a big severance. I saved the severance pay incase there was a possibility of returning to the Air Force however, not sure if there is this "waiver" for a 2Q code for my situation.

I wanted to see if anyone had any experience or information at getting separated from active duty but being able to go reserve. Possibly what is this waiver and the process if any.

Wasn't to sure where to post this so I apologize if it's in the wrong area.

Thanks again!

The Air Force version of this code is as follow:

  • RE-2Q: Medically retired or discharged
So I'm not sure if this disqualifies you for further service with the Airforce, but each branch has different definitions of this specific codes.
