I am trying to enroll in tricare prime after having a 60% via MEB.
When I log into Milconnect all I see is my AD coverage. (I dont get my Dd214 until april 21- so 2 weeks from now)
I cant see anything under the benefits tab other than just my current coverage.
Do i need to wait until I turn in my CAC/ get my retiree id for it to reflect that im out?
How does this work?

You typically wait a bit before enrolling. You can't enroll until after you get out an am a veteran. Just make sure to do it before the 90 days are up after leaving. Its retroactive so it will start the day after you get out but needs to be within 90 days.

@Provis Please excuse the hijacking of the thread...but I believe it fits. I have FEHB and I'm eligible for Medicare part B, but I've had to turn it on. It's taking a while, but will happen. At that point Tricare will allow me to enroll, but not before they stated. I plan to switch out from FEHB to Tricare. I was already able to enroll my wife in Tricare. The challenge is that I've passed the 90 days already. Do you believe I'll still be able to enroll? I see there is exceptions for up to 12 months but I wasn't sure if this would fall into that.

Yes if active duty which chapter 61 retirement qualifies for via retroactive enrollment. See link: https://tricare.mil/LifeEvents/Retiring

If you are medcare part B you need to enroll in Tricare for Life. Not sure if that affects anything but you can't do tricare select or prime if you have medicare. My wife has medicare part B and she was automatically enrolled from Select to TFL. However, she wasn't awarded SSDI until a while after already first enrolling into tricare as a retiree.

I heard from one of the Tricare people that being under 65 might allow the prime option, but others were all saying TFL as was the case with your wife.

And thank you for the link and info. Always a challenge navigating.

Its TFL for sure and its the best way to go. Its a wrap around so nothing out of pocket and tons of freedom to see anyone you want! If you go to docs that accept medicare and tricare there is no out of pocket at all. That's been everyone that my wife has seen since both are widely accepted!

Good to know. Thank you.

I did check and my part B is back on, but Tricare is not seeing it yet. Time to call DEERs.

I'm not sure about milconnect, but normally you can create an online account with Tricare West or East and call them to enroll. Tricare answers pretty quickly.
