How to write a letter of exception. Anyone have an example?!

We really need to know the topic and what you are trying to get an exception on to help you. There is no generalized format. Most regulations do have samples in them for the situation.
Give us a little more info and we can get you going in the right direction.

That was a very well written letter. You did a great job, but I am confused as to what you are asking for a exception to? A letter of exception deals with requesting an "exception" to an established policy or regulation.
The purpose of an LOE in the MEB is more or less an explanation of your side of the story/wishes and wants. As it was explained to me though;
My peblo asked if i wanted to submit a letter on my own behalf to the MEB, I asked for the format, and he responded with the LOE template; I wrote my letter and applied the formatting to it, along with the name "LOE";

Indeed, ditto from my PEBLO upon the previous inquiry with him; no specific format...just a detailed explanation supportive of my position of disagreement.
To that extent, for the generation of my MEB appeal documentation and PEB appeal documentation, I employed the use of the official military correspondence writing format from an U.S. Army perspective; a very efficient and effective method of preparing and managing correspondence (e.g., AR 25-50).
Thus, I quite often comment that "possessing well-informed knowledge is truly a powerful equalizer."
