MEB Timeline (NAS Jacksonville via Kings Bay, GA)

UPDATE: Received DD-214 on 11APR25.

Yesterday (23APR25), I verified that I had password access, my contact info, and all other things DFAS up to date (which it was previously, just verified). Mid-day, I received a deposit that didn't make sense to me for the amount, but on looking at my LES today, showed none of that deposit. It, however, did show that my EOM pay is 0, and my pay is being held as of 2 days before my retirement date for audit (expected).

Today (24APR25, final day in the military) I received an update from DFAS via Email/text that a retirement/annuitant case had been completed, then re-opened with the same case number. I'm assuming this is to process the start of my retirement pay. I have a call scheduled with my MSC today that everything is in order with the VA, but as they've had my DD-214 for a couple weeks now, I'm confident that everything is on the up and up. I'll provide any further updates as they become available.

Update: Retirement Annuitant Statement Account (RAS) was established on the 25th of April, with a statement release date of 2MAY25. This included the 75% max from my retirement DoD% as the VA hasn't completed their stuff yet. It'll adjust at some point. I did receive the "back pay" portion of my retirement from the end of April, and the sold leave/pro-rated bonus I was owed, but my final paycheck is still being held. I can see the amount on my April active LES, but it hasn't been released to me as of yet. I'll update this thread when I see that come in.

As of today (14MAY25), my VA claim hasn't shifted from an IDES process into a finalization process. I was able to sign up for, and get a VA clinic appointment for Primary Care. I'm currently Priority/Tier/Whatever 3 instead of 1 based upon my rating. I was assured it'll all be updated once the claim is completed.

Speaking of claims, they state I'm basically in the queue and are not able to tell me where in the queue. Since I submitted my DD214 as soon as it became available, I've had 3 weeks of waiting so far, so it should be fairly close to processing.

Once again, I'll keep this up to date since most timeline threads seem to drop off after people get out. The way I figure it, is until you're in the "housekeeping" portion of retirement, it's all good data.

Update: As of yesterday (15MAY25), I got a call from my rater to finalize some things. I should be closed out shortly. I'll update when I find something else out.

I truly appreciate all of your updates! We separated on the same day. I haven’t heard anything back from the VA at all. I keep getting the same script about talk to your PEBLO and your chain of command. When I tell them I’ve been retired for a month it seems like they start just making up excuses and it’s extremely frustrating!

Yeah man, I agree. There's been some minor updates, to include an explanation of what your final active LES says. That "Hold Pay Status Stopped" date signals the beginning of your audit time. DFAS stated that the time to complete that is sitting right at 120 days right now, so I'm not getting my final active paycheck until mid September it appears. So that's cool.

Beyond that, I'm still step 5 of 8 on my re-opened claim even though I talked to rater nearly 2 weeks ago now. Just a whole bunch of hurry up and wait. On the upside, I just received my first retired check this morning, so that's working at least. I'm fully expecting it to go haywire again once the VA finishes their side.

Another annoying note, since my DoD% was 100, they're going to have to recalculate my retirement check to my longevity once the VA completes. Who knows what that looks like, either.

How do I send my DD-214 to the VA?

How did you get your DD214 to the VA??

How do I send my DD-214 to the VA?
You can do it on the VA on the Quick Submit tool or ur MSC can do it for you.

Update: VA claim moved to Step 6 today.

Did you have to wait to get your retired ID? Anything else I should be doing before my EAS?
I didn't. The day I was retired, I got my ID. It doesnt matter for me since I was over 20 years.

Honestly, not really. The next onrush of crap is the date of retirement.

Update. I have a completed claim, and they updated my payments etc. They're asking for school info for my two oldest, so Im filling that out.

They held my first payment to make sure the DoD gets theirs I'm guessing but that was the one owed back from May. June is showing normal.

Total of 42 days from Retirement to Completed claim after IDES.

Are you getting some of your pay from the DOD and some from the VA? Besides signing up for Tricare and getting a retired ID. What else do I need to be doing?

I got my DoD pay within 2 weeks. VA is now starting. Those 2 were the big ones, I also signed up for VA Healthcare and set up my first appointment. The majority of my prescriptions now come in the mail on auto refill from the VA
