Hey everyone,

I wanted to share my case timeline to see if there's any way to guesstimate a completion time.

31 May 2022 - Had a total right hip replacement (not fun at 28 years old)
21 Dec 2022 - Code 37
22 Jan 2023 - Contacted PEBLO about next steps MDG never notified them of my status
23 Jan 2023 - First meeting with PEBLO
27 Jan 2023 - Code 37 and 469 Removed; scheduled follow-up with PCM to find out why
31 Jan 2023 - Reviewed CC impact statement with leadership, I requested DNR
01 Feb 2023 - Started to apply for Skillbridge program... Completed TAPS, applied for HoH Fellowship. Skillbridge was approved, education center waiting on FL4
08 Feb 2023 - PCM Follow-up, Code 37 removed in error. MDG thought I was separating in the near future (my DOS isn't until 2026). Reinstated Code 37
10 Feb 2023 - CC Impacted statement signed and sent to PEBLO
09 Mar 2023 - IRILO Finally complete, full MEB recommended
14 Mar 2023 - FL4 received; referred to MEB
13 Apr 2023 - Meeting with VA MSC
24 Apr 2023 - First C&P Exam (QTC)
01 May 2023 - Start Skillbridge
09 May 2023 - Last C&P Exam
06 Jun 2023 - No updates, so I ping PEBLO and she follows up with VA
08 Jun 2023 - QTC contacts me to schedule another exam to repeat spirometry test done at previous exam. Asked QTC and VA and no one knew why it was needed.
19 Jun 2023 - Final C&P exam again. Same results as last
06 Jul 2023 - PEBLO receives everything and begins drafting documents for local board
09 Jul 2023 - Followed up with PEBLO. Was told the MDG is severely understaffed due to deployments and local board may be longer than 30 days
21 Jul 2023 - Air Force education ctr allows me to extend skillbridge to 19 September (180 days from FL4 date)
28 Jul 2023 - Signed job offer for post-service employment at skillbridge company but could not provide an estimated start date.
11 Aug 2023 - Follow up with PEBLO. Waiting on PCM and flight surgeon signatures. She's sending reminders to them every Monday
30 Aug 2023 - Still waiting for signatures
09 Sep 2023 - Still no updates, AF will not allow me to extend skillbridge due to FL4 date. I return to shop
14 Sep 2023 - PEBLO Calls and has everything but CC Impact statement is now outdated
20 Sep 2023 - CC Approves original CC Impact statement, I sign the 618 agreeing with findings, PEBLO submits to AFPC
20 Sep 2023 - FSS email received

Is this timeline normal? I feel like I'm way behind where it should be. This whole process has been so stressful. I'm at McChord the PEBLO has been super helpful where they can be, there's only so much they can do though.

Should I be seeing anything on VA.gov or ebenefits? I still don't have any claims on the site. I emailed the MSC but didn't get a response.

I'll update my timeline as it progresses

26 Sep 2023 - Contacted VA, representative told me they are waiting for one last internal document to send over proposed ratings

I don't think it's necessarily behind where it should be. I went and spoke with the Patient Advocate a few weeks ago and they gave me a bit more information. Basically, it's estimated that once you get found unfit by the IRILO and entered into the PEB (full MEB), then it's estimated to take about 6 months to separate/retire. But that can fluctuate depending on each situation.

Below is my timeline so far for reference:

January 2023 - Code 37
...
(Medical treatment)
...
August 2023 - Impact Statement & NARSUM Completed
September 2023 - IRILO (Returned for more information, Update required by December 2023)

I'm definitely not an expert on this but it seems like you're pretty close to the end. It's also a major plus that you've had PEBLO that actually communicate with you and seem to know what they're doing. Here at Tinker, they don't communicate with you until after the IRILO finds you unfit. To this day I haven't received a single contact/response from my actual PEBLO.

Similar situation here @CrohnsBro - conditions started in my case Jan 2021. Referred initially Dec 2022 (23 months later), finally got word yesterday that IRILO now submitted to AFPC (another 10 months). Have yet to get a returned email or phone call from the Tinker PEBLO(s). I think they were expecting me to separate voluntarily, but I want to SkillBridge and have a fighting chance at landing a job that better aligns to my medical conditions. Without doxxing myself, staying in longer with unsympathetic leadership has been counterproductive and harmful to my health. On the bright side, it gave the med process more time to uncover health issues that should hopefully help me secure medical retirement with a higher rating. Thank you Team Tinker!

13 Oct 2023: called the VA and my case has been in final decision phase. VA.gov was finally updated. My case now shows as closed

Hey, I'm going through this process at JBLM as well. It's been nearly 3 months since my case was presented to the DAWG and code 37'd. I am trying to figure out the skill bridge process. I spoke with the education office and they told me that I can't do anything without the FL4. The only problem is I have had 0 contact with my peblo. Can I still submit everything for approval and just wait for my FL4 to get submitted? I'm already done with TAP, so I am literally just waiting for the peblo to get the ball rolling.

My skillbridge starts next week, you will be contacted by your peblo and given your FL4 and 6 months after the date stated on the paper is your window for skillbridge, my advice is once you get that paper let everyone know your intentions and get the AFI for the skillbridge during medboard to better explain to people what’s happening, I just went through that terrible process so let me know any questions you may have. But it is true you can’t do anything without an fl4, you will need to create an ETP for yourself to apply for skillbridge and change your dos in afvec, as well as an etp for your commander. The question you have right now is better suited for your leadership.
