Navy IDES Timeline

I’m sure you probably have been. You could always call the VA hotline and see if they say you’re “in the decision phase”. That seems to be a good indicator. And yeah I know it sucks not knowing what’s going on, it drove me crazy as well. I just had to figure out ways to distract myself so I wasn’t constantly thinking about it.
I will definitely give them a call to see if they have any information. Thank you so much for the advice!!
It is just so mind blowing to me that Navy and Marines take like a year for this entire process to be done while other branches take like 3-6 months from start to finish.

I reached out to the paralegal and found out my unfit date was January 8th not 25th so here’s my updated timeline:

Referral Date: November 1, 2022
C&P Exams Completed: December 2, 2022
Case Sent to PEB: December 7, 2022
Found Unfit: January 8, 2023

I hit 12 weeks this weekend from the day I was deemed unfit. I’m hoping ratings will be done any day now.

Our timelines are really similar.
Here's mine:
Case Sent to PEB: December 15, 2022
Found Unfit: January 9, 2023

I called the VA today and was told no proposed ratings yet.
I hope you get good info soon!

Same to you. I called yesterday and they gave me the same ole’ decision phase spiel. I’m assuming we will see that our prospective cases are closed on the VA website before we hear anything from our PEBLOs.

Just checked and my case says closed as of April 2nd on the VA website. I hope I get to sign my findings soon!
Nice!
That gives me some hope. My VA app still shows nothing, but hopefully see/hear something by the end of the week.

If you remember to update, let us know when you sign & your outprocess message comes out!
You're almost to the end!

This is how the rest of my timeline went so far:

20DEC22 - Found Unfit
23MAR23 - Proposed Ratings done at VA
27MAR23 - Claim showed up as closed on app
03APR23 - Received call/signed findings

10% DOD/100% VA
(I’m sure its P&T because one of the entitlements on my decisions paperwork mentioned Chapter 35 benefits, which is for permanent and total veterans)

Waiting for orders to come in at this point.

Everything came in today at 100% Va and 30% pdrl dod. Does anyone know if I will get a severance package or anything or just paid by the VA.

Hopefully somebody an answer this..
VA app case closed on 05APR
IDES attorney saw my proposed ratings 06APR
Email saying i have a new C&P Exam 07APR

Is this going to extend my time in IDES even more?
VA informed me the request is a medical opinion because my evaluator provided conflicting information...

Thanks in advance.

It will extend your Va process more they won’t send your official ratings back to peb until they are completely done

Thats what i figured, but i was really hoping it wouldnt drag the process out even more.
I should've added it in the previous post but my IDES attorney did say the VA mailed to the PEB, maybe that wasnt true.

What are those benefits, my peblo confused me because I thought I could receive severance still and pay back the difference over time with Va.
You will get VA compensation at the 100% rate. You are not entitled to severance as you are over 30% dod. That means you get all of your VA compensation plus any dod that is greater than the VA.

Your DOD compensation is done with the Average of your best 3. At 30% you will NOT be anywhere close enough to make it more than the VA so you will end up with just VA. Basically your VA is $3800/month (if married with no kids. This is my number). in order to also get paid from the dod I would need to make more than this number. Let's say I made $4000/m from dod. I'd ger 3800 tax free from VA and $200/m taxable from DoD.

One exception is if you retired at 20+ years and you medically retired at the same time, you would get both the dod and the VA payments.

Another exception would be if you had combat related disabilities you can get more money but I don't know how that system works.

In addition, you will get a uniformed services ID card to access Bases and services there. You and your family are eligible for medical retiree Tricare (You can get tricare select for $0 annual fee but you pay co pays and deductibles). You personally get access to VA health in addition to many many VA benefits (many states give huge benefits as well, like Texas gives 100% disabled vets $0 property tax for example).

There is more stuff but the tricare is the big one for hitting the 30% dod mark. You only get severance if you are under 30% dod and it has to be repaid over time from your VA compensation, so it's basically just a loan.

Not much of an update but this is where I’m at currently:

Referral Date: November 1, 2022
C&P Exams Completed: December 2, 2022
Case Sent to PEB: December 7, 2022
Found Unfit: January 8, 2023
Case Closed on VA website: April 2nd
VA ordered last minute exam: April 5th
QTC exam scheduled for: April 19th

Once this exam is done I’m hoping they will finally officially close my case so I can get findings and ratings soon.

You can call the VA and if your claim is in the "decision phase" that's proof you were found unfit and the VA is working on proposed ratings
Mine updated from decision to pending approval, I'm trying to figure out if i should be excited about that. The VA hotline says that means they're wrapping mine up, but its hard to get excited even when VA says its close because of thier glacial speed.

Just received and signed my findings! Ratings were what I hoped for too! The last VA exam didn’t hold up the process thank goodness. Will make a completed timeline post once I have orders. What a great day!
