Hi I'm at 11 1/2 years and im on sea duty and know i have issues i need to get seen for. My question is should i wait till shore or start now. It includes back problems from my son, neck problems from a car accident, some other minor issues and other issues more with anxiety and i think depression. I was seen for the neck issues for a year before but want to go back. I just dont know how to go about this because i know my anxiety and stress is getting worse and i dont know what to do. I dont want to get out but if i have too i will i just know i have issues i need to be seen for. I also dont know if to start getting seen with all of this at once this process is scary. Thank you for any help

Whenever you have a medical need or suffer an injury, you should always seek medical attention. Be honest and upfront with your providers about your needs and what works/doesn't work for you. In addition to just wanting to ensure your own health, timely report and annotation in your medical record will help you make claims when you leave the service no matter when that is. If it isn't in your medical record, it didn't happen. Your well being is number one. you cannot be a good sailor for the navy if you aren't well for yourself.

Thank you. I would like to get help but it seems if you do you usually leave the military and I dont wan to which is why im nervous to bring anything up. I guess i would like to "get better" and get back to normal.l but dont know if it will work that way.

That is not nessasarly the case. Be open with your providers and make your intentions to stay in known. Your health is most important. You cannot be a good sailor unless you are well. Trying to work through your pain will only cost your work to suffer. You won't be as good for your shipmates and you won't achieve your full potential. Basically what I'm saying is getting help is a good career move.
