Orders & DOS question

Hoping someone here knows the answer to this question.


I am done with the MEB and am currently just waiting for my orders to be published. Do you have any say or influence over your Date of Separation? If so, when? Can it be changed after your orders drop?


Long story short, i am trying to buy a house and i need my VA disability to officially kick in before i close on the house per the underwriter. So I am trying to get my DOS to be around 20-28 Nov so that my disability becomes official on Dec 1st and i can close on the house around 5-15 Dec. I have 58 days of leave and 20 PTDY days, but will be selling that leave if its possible that i can ammend my orders to reflect my desired DOS.
 
How much leeway’s varies by service and frankly by who sets down with to pick a date.

When I signed for my PEB/Ratings, my peblo just asked me how many days of leave I have, I was never asked on what date I preferred. I'm assuming i will get a DOS in my orders when they drop? Or do you get your DOS sometime after your orders drop?

My fear is they will take into account my 58 days of leave & 20 PTDY and give me a DOS sometime in Jan/Feb without asking if i plan on selling days.
 
My experience was the complete opposite. I was asked when I wanted my last day to be. He then caluclated my terminate leave, PTDY, and leave earned while on leave. Then we adjusted the last day on station date to hit in the last 5 days of the month. Like I said above, it depends. It is a goat rope.

You can choose your DOS. I’m also selling back leave to close on my house.

Question: once your stuff got sent to VA after IPEB, how long did it take them to get you the rating, and how many claims did you have? Thanks!! Just got my package sent to VA last week.

according to my peblo, my case was found unfit at IPEB on 1 sept and forwarded to VA for ratings that day. 28 Sept is when ratings were done. I had 18 total claims.
