Not sure if this belongs here, but I’m going to post some helpful information so everyone here who’s like me awaiting with no clear answers or pictures can get some type of answers. This is all from my experience and I’m at the final end of it all.

The first thing you should do is go to Tricareonline Patient Portal and sign in. Then chose Heath Records - Documents. Look for “NEW IDES CASE eMEBR”. The date next to it is the date your case was sent up to the PEB. This is the date you use to date your amount of days it’s been at the PEB.

Medical officer’s will take hold of your package once they accept it. Typically there is 15 admin days before and after, but this is to be included within the 120 days the DoDM states. To get an accurate date of how long it’s been at the medical officer call your peblo, they are able to look it up on a tracker they get.The longer with the medical officer, the closer you are to retrieving it back.

Follow up with your peblo every Tuesday or Thursday. Thursday seems to be better as it’s towards the end of the week. he is able to provide updates on the status and receives a tracker every Tuesday.

It’s important you follow up every week. You will get a fit / unfit finding before you receive the package back to sign. The last step is the VA finalizing the package. This is currently where I am at and was projected to get it back last week, which has been pushed to this week. However I was able to find I was found unfit by checking in weekly with the peblo.

You should be able to reicve your VA ratings before the PEB is back. Typically on the VA website it’ll be closed off under a code that won’t populate any files. Simply call the VA and the rep will be able to mail you a copy or email it to your gov email.

currently I’m at 157 days with PEB, 121 days with medical officer almost at the end

When you say 157 days with the PEB is that when your case was sent to the PEB or when it was accepted?

Question? Once your Commander drops you from SO and medical takes over is that MEB or PEB
Unsure what SO is, but typically once you get put on the MEB, the unit no longer has any control over you apart from basically accountability purposes and what ever limited duties you can preform.

SO is special ops in navy. Grandson cannot perform any limited duties and was told med discharge. He has severe TBI, ringing in ear with hole in eardrum, some memory loss , numbness in leg, nerve damage to neck and back. They had him stand at attention for 59 minutes a day in his face to quit but he wouldn’t. I think you know how he was treated??.. has been seeing neurologist, ent specialist, pt for balance , can’t sleep because of pain in head, have not addressed back yet, wanted to give him oxy but refused
We are on 4 months now and no answers except turned over to medical completely. I am trying to get all info on everything I can find out and get someone to advocate for hi

So a medical board in its simplest terms is for any service member who has an injury that would make them unable to perform their military duties and would get referred to the medical board to decide weather the condition does in fact make them unfit for military service or if they can return to duty. Most cases referred to the IDES, Integrated Disability Evaluation System. Every circumstance is different but the process is roughly the same. The main phases of the meb, peb, and you could look into the ides toolkit to get a better understanding of that process. As far as advocates go, I remember someone posting about free legal counsel but the service member, sm, can use base legal or their appointed attorney and the service member, your grandson, would be the biggest advocate. He will have to get involved and essentially put in the work to get all the help and answers he may need.

Sent up. You find that by calling the peblo to ask or just check tricareonline patient portal.
Good to know, the reason I ask is because mine was sent up 6 may but not accepted until 20 jul. I just got my preliminary findings back last week and was told to expect another 6 weeks or so. I should have 145 days with the PEB. and only like 47 with MO.

Preliminary findings?

Maybe i used the wrong word, the informal findings given to the PEB from the VA.

Your proposed ratings from VA. Not preliminary findings, if you use that with such a short timeline, you're gonna trigger some folks who have been here for 120+ days.
My bad lol, I’ve been here for 149 tho

For half a second I was like is there a step I didn't know about? Did I get skipped over and that's why I'm at 155? lmao.

So on mol it says my PEB was sent April 16 and Tricare it says May 27. I got a call today saying my findings are getting approved now but I won’t know if im fit or unfit until the findings get approved. So basically I have no idea what’s going on can someone dumb it down for me please

Basically your peb should be completed soon, then youll get the confirmation of your rating decision, go in to speak with your peblo and go over it all, if you agree with it then it will get sent back with your approval and then the orders part begins

So what does it mean if my case was accepted per mol in august but TOL does not contain such a document? My PEBLO stated that my case was will a medical officer for 13 days.

Not sure if anyone wants to comment on what I am going to say! Neurologist told my grandson he wasn’t going to send him to peb because he hasn’t treated his TBI?. Has bee seeing him for 4 months and all he wants to do is give him oxy and antidepressants. If that doesn’t help he will sign off. What is going on trying to give young kids medicine that might make him suicidal or an addict!!
ENT wants MRI with contrast to see what damage is done in brain and surgery on hole in ear but that won’t help his tinnitus. Also headaches are unbearable. How does the va rate injuries?

From my understandings, I'm not positive that the neurologist can put your son on a PEB ( I may be wrong but I think its only the PCM- Primary care Manager or his main doctor). Either way, a PEB is supposed to be sort of a "all other efforts failed" scenario, so he as least on the right track, but unfortunately he may have a hard time getting onto a PEB until he has tried the doctor's idea of a corrective action. Another option would be him denying to take some of those things and they can also med-sep you for that. For example, I was given two options, either get a surgery to try and help or be put on a PEB right away, I got the surgery instead and that didn't work so I am here anyways but If I tried all other options and wasn't willing to try the last option they gave me than I would've been put on a PEB. I do know that you can ask your PCM to be put on a PEB and they have every right to say yes or no, but in my opinion, try what they want you to try within reason and then go from there, It is much easier to argue that you are unfit if none of their remedies worked vs you not trying to get better. I understand it is a touchy subject and the PCM may be rude and arrogant but being polite and sincere can go a long way.
