Before retirement, my blood sugar was high. During VA blood work done, the doctor saw my blood sugar is high again and suggested that I need to cut down my sugar intake. Can I claim this with DAV? If I'm diabetic, I might as well claim it? How? Thanks..

Indeed albeit in reference to applying for disability compensation benefits for veterans via the Veterans Business Administration (VBA), the following excerpt was taken directly from the USDoVA webpage entitled "Applying for Benefits" and should be applicable to your specific inquiry:

"The best way to file for disability compensation is to apply online at eBenefits.va.gov. If you don't have an eBenefits account, register today. Once you log into your eBenefits account, use Apply for Disability Compensation. VA recommends you appoint an accredited Veterans Service Officer to help you initiate your claim, gather the required medical records and evidence, and submit your claim. You can appoint a Veteran Service Officer while you apply online.

If you prefer to file your claim by paper, complete VA Form 21-526EZ, "Application for Disability Compensation and Related Compensation Benefits" and mail the application to your local regional benefit office. You can find your local regional benefit office in the VA Facility Locator. You can also visit your local regional office and turn in your application for processing. While there, you can appoint an accredited Veterans Service Officer to help you prepare and submit your claim. You can find an accredited Veteran Service Officer using eBenefits."

Thus, I quite often comment that "possessing well-informed knowledge is truly a powerful equalizer."

Best Wishes!
