Good evening all,

Just had a question if someone could advise. My mother joined the Army back in the 70's and was in for about a year. She started having chest/heart problems during that year. She was seen by two army doctors and was honorable discharged at the end of the first year she was in. Her contract was for 4 yrs but due to medical issues she was let go.

This is all the information as of right now that I could gather from her. I'm seeing if I can request her military/medical records from the archive.

My question is does she qualify for VA benefits? If she considered a veteran and any advice on how to or what to do next in order for her to receive benefits. Thank you all for any assistance

She most certainly apply for VA benefits. She can start by filling out a 10-10EZ for healthcare benefits http://www.va.gov/vaforms/medical/pdf/1010EZ-fillable.pdf and apply for compensation and pension benefits with this form http://www.vba.va.gov/pubs/forms/VBA-21-526EZ-ARE.pdf

It would be amazing if she has her DD-214 and medical records, but if not they can try to piece the information together.

Great,

I am seeing if I can pull her records myself with her information and go from there but ill just have her fill out the forms you mentioned and see what happens
