If I got chaptered out under 14-12c. If discharge gets upgraded along with codes is it ever possible to fight and say I should have also been given an opportunity to transfer to serve in the national guard/reserve. When I was discharged in 2017 dod still wasn’t implementing VARSD codes. I was 80%VA SC after I got discharged. Now 100% happened 3yrs later. But could’ve been able to possibly get more retirement time. I think this might be something else people under this category or all categories who got discharged previously and are now eligible for upgrades due to changes in laws should also fight for. We weren’t given a chance to continue our military career in the reserve or guard component to get a chance to rehabilitate more as a civilian than an active duty soldier. A lot of us probably could have served longer giving us more retirement benefits.

Honestly this makes no sense. If you aren't fit to serve , why on earth would you be fit to serve at that status?

Yes, do I wish I could have served longer. Of course. But at the end of the day I was not combat effective. At MEPS, people are not " fit" for duty and are not given the privilege to serve in the military. If you are medically retired or just got out due to medical conditions under severance, fight for a better rating. If you are worried about money, if possible ( mental and physical conditions allow), get a good paying job. Honestly 100 percent ( tax free) is a crazy amount when you look at salary after taxes.

Lol it’s all good man you just never know what laws can get passed. I say it because a lot of us have got discharged involuntarily due to disability misdiagnosed. And we have 1-2yrs left on our new contract. If given proper med board process we would gain 1-2 yrs of Tis like everyone else who is given the proper time to med board. So technically there can be some injustice there. They could at least consider remaining time in contract for us who got wrongfully discharged.
I am still in upgrade process. But after reading the Board laws and regulations that are in effect it seems like new ones are added every year all it takes is the right person to fight for it. Which is what they have been fighting for our benefits for a long time l. But once the injustices start to dwindle down there will be other things people will fight for. I believe it can happen look how long the med board process takes. Even if found unfit we can still stay state side for an entire contract. So please tell me where im wrong.

That would be taking advantage of the system...
The system took advantage of its soldiers. We are basically looked at as govt property who can’t misuse or mistreat ourselves. But if the govt does it to us it’s a different story.
That’s why there’s so many law suits against the govt regarding our benefits. Basically the whole profile thing was dumb you can have a profile but your commander can make you go against it. But now they changed that so now they can get punished for going against a profile. A lot of things change over time even within the last 5yrs.
