Received retirement date...now what??

My unit is of no help at this point....I could use advice.
I have retirement orders (Chap 61) dated Oct 16, 2013. With the slim down...I know there is no telling when I will receive a check. However, what am I suppose to do on my end?
My reserve unit is in another state, so I will need to go to my closest base for anything administrative. (But are THEY working during the slim down?)
This has been a long process for me and my family...just want to make sure I am as proactive as possible. Thanks!
 
I'm in a CBWTU and was told by the staff today that Ft Benning is not clearing anyone. The transition point is closed down until further notice.
