Retirement Pay Timeline?

I am wondering if anyone has insight on when I will start/stop receiving my retirement pay.

My DOS is 04 December, with my retirement date the next day. From what my PEBLO told me, 05 December would be the date that my retirement pay starts. The VA rep told me that I will likely expect my first VA payment to be 01 February. I am just trying to get a better idea of what I can expect. I am saving money because I know that (for now) I will be receiving less money from my new job than what I would have taken home in the service.

Anyone have timelines they are willing to share?

If you work even one day for DoD in a month (December) you can not get VA pay for that month. So you earn VA pay the following month (January). The VA always pays in arrears. So you should receive your January VA pay in February. IMPORTANT: Upload your DD214 in E-benefits the day it arrives. No DD214, no payment even starts to process.
