SBP vs VA Disability pay

I just thought of something: I signed up for the SBP as part of my outprocessing for retirement. Now that I have my VA dis. decision, what do I need to do to make sure my wife is covered? My VA check is greater than my retirement check, so I get everything from the VA (not eligible for CRDP).

DFAS CL will send you a bill for the SBP payments. There is a way to have it come directly from your VA award. You will need the DD FORM 2891 and fill it in and submit it to DFAS CL. The address information is on the form itself, and it is the same address to which you will make payments until the authorization for deduction is set up. I hope this helps.
