Hi All!

I received my notice that I would be separated for PTSD and Bipolar Disrder Type II (releated Category 2 diagnosis) at 10%.

*Additional findings*
the disability was incurred while entitled to receive basic pay
the disability did not occur during a period of unauthorized absence
the disability is not the result of intentional misconduct or willful neglect
the disability did occur after 14 Sep 1978
The disability is permanent
the disability was the direct result of a combat related injury as defined by ....
the board finds further that the disability was incurred in the line of duty as a direct result of armed conflict

My question is, is my calculation on this payment accurate?

2 x E4 monthly base pay (separated as E4 in 2015 but served 3 years as E5 prior to separation) x 12 years active (but I did have 14 total years of service with 2 years of IRR time) = $60,840

So is my math correct and can I assume that I will not pay taxes on this amount and that my VA payments will not be recouped and that my VA disability rating for PTSD/Bipolar will remain at the 50% regardless of the Navy's findings?

Thank you for your help.

What us your military status. When did you file your claim. and what is your va rating. You should receive back pay back to the date of your filing., depending your military status

You are dealing with a lot of factors. Kinda hard for this forum to make an accurate calculation. You would probably get better advice by talking to you Peblo and DFAS

I was active duty for 12 years, IRR for 2. I was assigned to the TDRL back in Feb of 2015. I had a 50% disability rating for PTSD/BiPolar from the VA. I'm not sure what all you mean about military status...

I'm no longer at work so I do not have my data handy, but I posted several times the standard of mental health for stress related, and its a minimum of 50% for PTSD.

I was a little confused you said you would be separated but you got off active duty in 2015, I was thinking you were already out of the military, and severence pay wouldn't apply.

It's an initial minimum 50% requirement but the board can change that upon further review. I've been on TDRL since March 30th 2015 guys, this isn't the initial MEB results.

I was just wondering if my math was correct. I'm not looking for exact numbers. I also just wanted to make sure that my VA benefits wouldn't be compromised after I accept the separations pay.

Let me try this again with all the details (lol)

I received my notice that I would be separated for PTSD and Bipolar Disrder Type II (releated Category 2 diagnosis) at 10% after being on TDRL since March 30th of 2015. I was initially placed on the TDRL with 50/60 (to include tinitus as well) ratings from the DoD and VA respectively.

From my letter from the PEB:
*Additional findings*

(So I'm wondering if this ^ will exclude me from my payment being taxed, and if it will exclude my VA disability payment from recoupment)

My other question is, is my calculation on this payment accurate?

2 x E4 monthly base pay (separated as E4 in 2015 but served 3 years as E5 prior to separation) x 12 years active (but I did have 14 total years of service with 2 years of IRR time) = $60,840 (this is obviously a rough estimate, I don't need an exact number, I'll leave that up to DFAS, I'm just wanting to see if my total makes sense).

So is my math correct and can I assume that I will not pay taxes on this amount and that my VA payments will not be recouped and that my VA disability rating for PTSD/Bipolar will remain at the 50% regardless of the Navy's findings?

Thank you for your help and I hope this clarifies things.
