Skillbridge approved - MEB just initiated per profile

I have an approved Skillbridge (through AFVEC) starting 3 Sep 23 and an approved Retirement/DOS of 1 Mar 24.

I just logged into myIMR, and noticed that my most recent profile date was extended and converted into a 1 year profile with AAC 37/DAV 42 with "Pending MEB" in the notes. I have hard orders in hand and my family has already started the move process and we have sold our property at the PDS in preparation for starting Skillbridge. We have expended significant funds and time since we have hard orders to make this happen, and I'm concerned the USAF just screwed me.

Am I able to still do Skillbridge and retire, or will this new coding by the medgroup screw all those plans?

Background: I have been on the same type of profile for over 8 years (in 6 month increments at this time), have already been through a previous MEB and IRILO and RTD as Fit. I see no reason why the military would start a MEB on me with an approved retirement date approximately 7 months from now...

The profile probably just renewed. The profile has no affect on orders whether PCS orders or retirement orders. Feel free to check with retirement services but unless you have those orders amended or new orders you should be good.

Thanks for your response. I did not have any DAV or AAC codes on my record prior to this profile update where they changed it form a 6 month profile to a 12 month profile with those codes and "Pending MEB". This has now updated in my personnel record already on vMPF showing that DAV / AAC assigned. Definitely very concerning on my side.

I have not heard from my PCM in months, in fact she refused to respond to my messages in Genesis or phone call requests for a virtual appointment since my Skillbridge has started.
The person assigned with writing my NARSUM is at Andrews, where we are admin supported as a GSU based out of CA. She says she saw nothing in my records that justify them submitting this IRILO/MEB process due to back pain and that permanent profiles don't require the code 37 like they put on my record.

She then asked if the PEBLO had already contacted me, which obviously has not happened.
Just another time having the military try to screw you over... I should be used to this by now, yet I'm always surprised when they find a new way to do it.

Just curious when you applied for skillbridge? I am certain I will be able to retire once everything is said and done, I am just wondering when I can start reaching out to potential companies, they all ask for potential start dates and I have no idea what to tell them since I am still early in the process.

I applied around June 2023 and was approved for the program around July/August with a start date in September.

Similar situation here. The separation date was approved for 05/17/2024(no order yet). My SkillBridge was approved on 12/4/2023, the second day I was notified that I will be MEB, which probably will affect my eligibility for SkillBridge.

My MEB condition is my back injury, which I have had for 15 years. They are now requiring me to go to a specialist to get "recent medical notes regarding the injury" and then have to rewrite the Commander Statement because it is over 30 days old. It has not impacted my Skillbridge participation yet, but it may delay my retirement from the military. As if the retirement process isn't stressful enough.

Can someone please provide the policy or regulations where it states when a servicemember can start a Skillbridge while in the MEB process. Does anyone know how many days from the initial notification of your MEB can you start a skillbridge? Thank you so much!

Please post a reply to this thread if you figured out the answer to your question. I am also trying to pull off Skillbridge while in the PEB process. My big concern is that waiting for the results will not give me enough time to complete the program.

My current plan of action is to route a request to my CO and pray. Looking for anything that will increase odds of approval.

Sorry I'm late! I have similar questions, and have found the following info so far:

During Skillbridge participation, members are placed in a PTDY status

DAFI 36-2670 6.10.2.1.
To be eligible: complete TAP, and expect to be discharged or released from service within 180 days.
Exceptions to this rule will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. An example of a situation warranting an exception to policy would include members who are meeting a Medical Evaluation Board who do not yet have an established date of separation.
Contact your local education office to initiate and help with the ETP for undergoing an MEB.
