Active Guard Reserve (AGR) I was diagnosed with severe plaque Psoriasis. Tired everything for 3+ years. Nothing worked. Deployed came back an tried Humira (6 months) no joy. Got Skyrizi (on it for a year) thru a program with my refereed derm. It works psoriasis gone. In health record but tricare didnt cover it (get it free thru program). They will only cover Humira / pcm and derm tried to note it didn’t work. Still denied. Getting skyrizzi thru free program. Unit is up for new deployment. Can’t go due to it being a biologic. Tons of stuff on here about Humira. Freaked out and being told I may start MEB. Worried… I’ve got 17 years active Fed service an 20 years total with active and reserve time. Anyone in a similar situation?

I'm sorry to hear about your situation. When it comes to medical conditions and military service, there are certain criteria that need to be met in order to continue serving. Each case is different and decisions are made on a case-by-case basis. It's important to work closely with your medical provider and military leadership to understand the options available to you.

My wife was recently chapter 61 medically retired with 17 years AFS and 20 good years. Yeah its very scary! Your unit commander can buy you some time. They can rescind a fit for duty exam and give you up to a year on profile to see if any other treatments will work that don't make you non deployable.

If you are referred into IDES I strongly recommend hiring a private attorney. SMy wife did and it was the best decision she ever made regarding her military career. She had peace of mind during the process and her attorney helped her from the start. He even helped draft the commander's impact statement (since the commander was TPU he was happy to have it filled out for him and so he just had to read over it and sign) that impact statement along with some other medical documents my wife worked on getting helped her add another unfitting condition to increase her DOD%.

Bottom line: if you can stay in and hit 20 year AFS that is what I would do. If not, make sure to try to get the best outcome with a medical retirement.

My derm just prescribed me Skyrizi and they work at an Army medical hospital (I am active duty Air Force). Do you have a military PCM or derm you could ask to try and get your prescription?

Was recently prescribed Skyrizi from my civilian Derm. Was told that it could automatically initiate MEB. Has anyone dealt with this recently? At this point in my career, a MEB doesn't sound too bad. Any suggestions?
