I know not all cases are the same, differences between Air and Army, LOD etc. As an Air Guard member with a Non-duty IPEB (as they do us often, regardless if injury was duty related), NGB IPEB emailed my unfit determination to my Clinic personnel & FSS personnel, who then sent the email to me & my Commander. The VA stuff is done totally separate in my case.
10 Nov 13 - Psoriasis treated with Enbrel injections
20 Nov 13 - Officially referred to MEB
04 Dec 13 - Commanders letter requested
09 Dec 13 - CC letter completed
15 Dec 13 - DAWG reviewed case, will forward to NGB
18 Dec 13 - Started VA claim (Psoriasis, Gyn/Anemia, hearing) at local VA office
19 Dec 13 - Flt doc working on statement, AWT doc's note
30 Dec 13 - Sent package to NGB
24 Jan 14 - Heard from Commander via Clinic that NGB/SG recommend me "Unfit"
08 Feb 14 - Clinic forgot to attach NDDES form (Non-duty Statement of Selection)
27 Mar 14 - Received fitness determination from IPEB (email) - "Unfit", I elected not to appeal to the FPEB.
04 Apr 14 - VA claim changed "gathering evidence", AWT 3rd party docs (service verification & separation)
08 Apr 14 - Sat with FSS folks to request mil retirement in VPC-GR for 9 Jun 14
15 Apr 15 - Told by NGB I'd have to meet FPEB in order to qualify for "special provisions" under FERS
28 Apr 14 - NGB clarified no need to see FPEB in order to qualify for "special provisions" under FERS
02 May 14 -FSS had me withdraw first retirement request and resubmit in VPC-GR
04 Jun 14 - Got my military retirement orders for 6 Jun 14 (had to retrieve them from VPC-GR),
04 Jun 14 - Tech retirement request package sent by State JFHQ to ABC ARMY Benefits-Civilian/OPM
06 Jun 14 - Received my military retirement certificates via UPS
10 Jun 14 - Got my ABC-Army Benefits brief on FERS retirement numbers (Phone) & also got my NGB form 22 "Report of Separation and Record of Service" (email).
21 Jul 14 - Notification for VA C&P appts (Gyn & Hearing)
29 Jul 14 - VA C& P exam, Gyn
30 Jul 14 - VA C&P (contractor) exam, Hearing
O2 Sep 14- Received VA Decision letter - out of 5 issues, all were denied lacking medical evidence or "no continuity of symptoms".
13 Dec 14- final Mil Tech (OPM) retirement date
22 Jan 15 - My VSO helped me submit a request for reconsideration for the psoriasis and requesting a medical exam, since they didn't do one before. I also sent ALL my doctors notes from EVERY appt EVER.
02 Mar 15 - First OPM retirement annuity (another long process)
19 Mar 15 - VA C&P exam, Psoriasis
13 Apr 15 - OPM back pay
06 May 15 - Received VA Decision letter - rated 60% for Psoriasis; as per rating schedule "taking constant systemic therapy for over a 12 month period"
06 May 15 - First VA deposit
07 May 15 - Called VA to correct effective dates (they listed Mar 15 instead of Dec 13) and also number of Dependants.
Whew, its been a long haul..... I'm glad I'm finally at the end it. Hang in there!. I hope my timeline helps any Guard folks going through a similar situation. But please understand cases vary from person to person.
