I keep seeing stuff about unfit memo's.
Will this be physically given to me between IPEB decision and VA rating steps?

Just curious.

And if anyone can elaborate on it, that would be much appreciated.

Yes it should be given to you. I have heard of people not getting a copy. So make sure you ask your PEBLO for a copy of it.

I know not all cases are the same, differences between Air and Army, LOD etc. As an Air Guard member with a Non-duty IPEB (as they do us often, regardless if injury was duty related), NGB IPEB emailed my unfit determination to my Clinic personnel & FSS personnel, who then sent the email to me & my Commander. The VA stuff is done totally separate in my case.

Thank y'all. This was helpful!! Didn't even know about that till recently. And here I was thinking I knew almost all the little things like that.

there is still soooo much to learn :)

The unfit memo is basically a document draftet by the MEB which allows them to recommend you for a PEB. After the unfit memo, your case is sent to the VA for rating.

It typically takes 10-15 days for the MEB to produce the memo after you sign your NARSUM. Make sure all of the conditions you feel are unfit are on the memo.
