Ive recently been diagnosed with stage 1 ulcerative colitis at an off base GI clinic from the host country we are in. PCM has told me guna be facing an MEB. I want to be prepared for the shit storm thats about to happen so I have alot of questions. Ive read if you get sep pay you have to repay it to receive any VA pay is there a way to deny the sep pay? Ive also been told by a friend that if you are active duty to file VA claims it has to be within 6 months out how do I do that if I dont know how long this is guna take or when they are guna give me the boot? If I get medically retire can I still claim my knee and deviated septum I broke at work both of which I have documented the latter by an of base ENT or would that mess things up down the line with the percentage claims? Since this is a diagnosis from a foreign doctor referred to by my base medical is there any way they can screw me while still in or through the VA? as Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

An MEB that results in a PEB will yield a VA rating. You don’t have to guess the 6 month mark.

The VA will look at all medical records in your DoD file. Then do an independent exam for benefits - not treatment, which will be used to establish a rating. Generally, the process gets things right. The IDES has lots of checks and balances, so there will be opportunities to straighten out anything that goes sideways.
