What to expect after MEB referral?

Basically, I had a command referral BH appointment and the doctor I saw (Psy.) told my commander he recommended that I get MEB. Two weeks later I had another appointment which took almost two hours. I was talking and being asked a lot of questions, after that I met with a Maj. She said she’s recommending or is referring me to MEB. She also said “I don’t give these out a lot so that should mean something.” Do I only get a PEBLO if the MEB accepts my case? Will I be notified regardless of the decision? The reason for MEB is PTSD and other BH issues.

Hi!

What branch of service are you in? It makes a difference...as each branches process are similar, but have their own nuances.

If you are Air Force, AF Reserve or Air National Guard I can offer some guidance.

You should be able to go to your MEDCOM office for guidance. I believe the Army can assign you a lawyer early on in the process.

Hey bro, in my previous job I was an 18delta ( sf medic ) and had access to medpros. When my meb was initiated I was put in for a P3 profile. Not sure what job or unit you are in but your Bn med should be able to look that up for you on your medpros.

Once you see a p3 on your medpros ( with deployment restrictions/ training restrictions ( ie should not handle weapons ), be pro active and contact the ides office your base uses. Considering mental health/ ptsd is the new tinnitus claim, you will be good. Remember, the more p3 profiles you have the easier it will be for both full medical retirement and CRSC ( I have yet to Crack that code though as we didn't really record our injuries in 3rd group )

I’m not at a normal unit but I know a medic that has access to medpros I’ll ask him.

As mentioned above, once your p3 is approved, you’ll be able to login to medpros and pull out your profile . Under PULHES you’ll see a 1 1 1 1 1 3 (normally )
Unless you have other issues .You can also see this on your SRB, Soon after that , you’ll be getting a call from your assign PEBLO .and everything will start

How long should it take to show? Also, would it be inappropriate to ask the Commander for copies of the paper work?

1-2 weeks . It has to be review by MEB doctor for IDES acceptance . And as soon as it’s approved you will and your commander will get an email with the notification that you have been assign a p3 profile

Okay thanks everyone has been very helpful I’m doubtful that it will go through. I was getting treatment then stopped bc I PCS to Austin and was put in student status and couldn’t miss 10% and with the amount of appointments I would’ve gotten in trouble or removed. So I didn’t go for a while and then when I did start the person I saw I didn’t like she was horrible I felt worse walking out. I told them that.

Honestly I’m Army myself and I don’t know how the process work but I’m being proactive. I got contacted by my peblo and my PA told me he sees there’s a Permanent profile on my record but I can’t see it through medpros. I don’t understand it because I started the whole process I’m gathering my records to give my Peblo from off post.

That is the beat way to be. Gather all records from off post. If it is a p3, it was initiated from on post issues/ medical records off post can help you with va qtc claims / evidence for crsc

Like previous posts , I have not cracked the crsc code. I was an sf medic and it seems that even though your Mos qualifies, it won't matter unless it is documented well

Just go to medpros And pull out your profile .you’ll see a 3 under PULHES

Thanks everyone for all the input! Basicall Get all my medical records for my doctor and any specialist that I seen while I wait for the PEBLO to call? I have to use doctors off post bc I’m not on an instillation I’m with Futures Command in Austin. This process shall be interesting. I’ll remain patient and try to be positive.
