When can I file for an increase?

I’d like to file for an increase for an already service-connected condition. I got released from the military in August 2022 and the effective date of my condition is also August 2022. The date of September 2022 is listed on my decision letter. Instead of filing for an appeal (within a year), I’d like to file a new claim. Can I file for an increase in August or September?

I hope this is the right forum to post my question.

You are referring to VA compensation and not your DoD disability percentage, correct?

I would go ahead and file for an increase, the most painless way is through va.gov. You don't necessarily have to start a new claim, va.gov has an option to file for an increase.

Yes, it’s for VA compensation.

I will file through va.gov for an increase. However, don’t I have to upload the VA forms like 21-526EZ? On the form it says: If you are filing a new claim or a claim for increased disability compensation for an evaluation decided more than one year ago - please complete and submit VA Form 21-526EZ”. For an increase, I’d have to wait for a year unless I’m appealing the decision. In my case, I need to know when I can start to file for an increase, August or September?

Other than my DD214 and evidence, do I even need to upload any VA forms since I’m filling the information online?
