Working During Terminal Leave

Throughout my MEDBOARD process, I began getting the resume ready and beginning to prep for the results. Flash forward, I have my decisions and I am on my way towards retirement. Now as I am talking with potential employers, one of my battles told me about a DoD regulation concerning Officers and their ability to work while on transition/terminal leave for a contracting company. From what I have read is that you can work for the contracting company but cannot perform any function within the “building” until you are officially retired. Enlisted are exempted from this regulation. I’ve reach out to JAG and they mentioned filling out a DD2945, so I will look into that. But I wanted to know if anyone had any success working through this process and getting around it (besides just working for a non-contracting company :)).
Cheers

I just finished this process with legal. I filled out the DD2945, went in to meet with legal for discussion and counseling, and will have their signed opinion. I know others that did not go through this process but it was easy and informative.

Technically the regs say you can't represent your new employer to the government. There's a bunch of language around what is and is not okay.

I would expect most employers will be very supportive to accommodate.
