I am title 32 dual status that was found medically unfit. I have over 15 years active duty time but my HRO is saying I will have a gap in benefits until it is adjudicated on the tech side and I will be on my own for benefits and pay until there is a decision! I have been through the whole PEB process and have all the documentation. No accommodations can be made. Why would I not be covered for the 3-6 months they take to rule on this?

Hello, there is a memo that was put out years ago on this situation, HR should have it. They give you 30 days after your separation date. You’ll qualify for Tricare if you medically retired with over 30%. Start on the Disability paperwork fast as it does take a while to get processed through OPM, it took me 5 months to get any kind of pay, and an extra 3 months to finally finish the whole process. Hope this helps.
