NARSUM has 4 separate DQ conditions

Wildcard is I am a Physician Assistant and dont know if PEB will find me unfit but retain me because of that.

-Referred for MEB: late Oct 2024
-MEB Brief 14Nov 2024 (due to already scheduled leave)
-VA appts completed 8 Jan 2025 (tbi/neuro exam got canceled twice otherwise would have been done back in early December)
-Narsum signed 20 Jan 2025
-Sent to IPEB 21 Jan 2025
-Expedited memo due to signed job contract sent to PEBLO 3 Feb 2025 and told it was sent to supervisor for action.

My question, if anyone has used an expedited memo how long did it take to get everything back? The contract I sent has a start date of 1 March. We are closing on a house towards the end of March and I don't want to finalize that until I know for sure I'm found unfit. My PEBLO is very proactive when there is actually paperwork to be signed, reviewed, ect but between events needing action it's very difficult to get in touch with them.

Just looking for answers like everyone else but I know if I'm not proactive I have nobody to blame but myself. Thanks in advance.

You can call the VA once a week and check on the status. To be honest, I think March 1st is out of the realm of possibility - even with an expedited memo. When you sign the NARSUM, you are at the halfway point (in theory). So, your MEB Brief was Nov. 14th, and you signed NARSUM Jan 20th so two months. Another 2 months or so from the date of your signing would be quick. Then, you still have to sign that you accept the ratings (if you don't, expect to add several more months to this process).

Unfortunately, a MEB using IDES is already expedited ahead of a normal claims. There's not anything to make it go faster at this point. I signed my NARSUM a week before you, and my PEBLO is telling me to expect to hear back from the VA end of March or early April. That is the timeline she is seeing. If it is end of March, that would put it at the VA for about 10 weeks which is totally normal.

Buckle in, but do not plan to be done by March 1st. I think that is a totally unreasonable timeframe and I am a week ahead of you in the process. If I heard back by March 1st, I would be over the moon happy, but shocked as well.

I signed my NARSUM 14Jan25 with an expedited memo as well. I call my MSC once a week but still no Unfit detirmination yet. However I am tracking someone else who just finaled out of Bliss and if it were the same exact timeline as theirs, I will get my DA199 on March 29 from signing my NARSUM January 14 so I’m sorry but I feel you, this is an excruciating process. Try not to think of it too much and live like you weren’t getting out that’s my only suggestion. You’re almost there, less than the time it took for us to go thru Basic and we’re out for good.

Have you had an appt with VERA number? I had one on Thursday and they said my case is assigned to an examiner which some have said means the IPEB has already made the unfit determination.

I was told the memo puts you in the front of the line at the IPEB but still mixed answers on if it expedites the ratings or not. According to Vera my claim is assigned to an examiner at the VA already which should mean I have already been found unfit.

I’m not sure who Vera is? If It’s who scheduled the C&Ps I had VES but regardless according to the VA they’re in “decision phase” but my MSC told me that that’s how it’ll show in the VA system but that the rater is unable to make a proposed rating letter until they receive the unfit memo from the IPEB, which in my case they’re still waiting on. I’m really hoping to hear back soon so I can clear and leave.
