Awaiting DA199

Hi everyone,

Found unfit for PTSD and stationed on Fort Campbell. I saw my claim was closed on the VA app on 31DEC. I've called many times, but can't get anyone to email me my ratings, as I've seen in other posts. However, yesterday, a VA rep on the hotline notified me saying on 02JAN, they sent me a decision letter that contained my ratings. I was wondering if this was accurate, as I still have not signed my DA199. If anything, does this mean I am any steps closer to getting the DA199? I reached out to my PEBLO but haven't heard anything back yet.

Thank you!

Any update on this? I heard the PEB is taking around 30 days after proposed VA rating. They won’t send the letter to you (unless you spam call the VA and find someone who will) they’ll send it to your PEBLO so they’ll have it

Good evening!

So I was pretty lucky. The decision letter was sent to my PEBLO. On 13 JAN, they called me in to review my proposed ratings, and I signed my DA199 the following day. Retirement was really quick. Sent up the retirement PAR with an ETS date of 15 FEB. TAA got approved and start that 06FEB. I tried calling the VA, I don't know how many times, and no one would read me or email me my ratings. I am being medically retired with 90% VA and 70% DoD for PTSD with TBI. PEBLO did mention that MH cases tend to move more quickly, so that could be why. Hopefullythings pick up fast for you!

Assuming your TDRL and not PDRL its super important to continue to seek treatment after getting out. I would suggest you go to the VA. I would not change anything up for the first year out so that your branch can find your condition stable and change it to PDRL without lowering it.

Many times Soldier get out and don't seek treatment or they get a job or go to school. Life gets better. Then at the 6 month mark your branch looks you over and says congrats you are better and then lowers your rating and makes it PDRL which means permanent. Then a year goes by and you have lost your benefits and pay or if still 30% then its lost pay and life happens. Your condition gets worse than while you were serving. You can't do much. Life sucks. However, since you are PDRL now that DOD rating will never change. Your VA rating can change but rating that is given to you that earns you a lifetime pension that will never go away apart from VA compensation is lost or greatly reduced.

So, that's why I say don't make changes. Try to keep your condition stable until you can get to PDRL. If your condition is reduced and not warranted for reduction don't accept the TDRL to PDRL findings. Appeal it. Its much better to not get to that point by being put on PDRL with the correct rating.

Hello,

Very new to this but the PEB proceedings and retirement orders have me listed PDRL at 70%, but I am still seeking treatment post Army. Thank you!
